  1. Els, Thank you so much. This is just the ticket. I have every confidence now that Pnina can lead us to proper, albeit, awkward success in this endeavor. I'm ever more proud of my time at the ballet. Thank you again, Els, Ken, and especially you, Pnina. ~Sky

Thank you very much, Alberto and you are welcome. I was happy to do it and more happy that you were pleased with it. ~Sky

    Different business

Very nice Alberto. For Pnina and others I offer a resolution for the missing shoulder. Please forgive me for poor artist's license as I must get much better. I took the liberty to give you a full shoulder for this woman and to shorten the beautiful bench. Of course, you will know otherwise as you saw the entire scene.

A really nice photo representing maybe seven lives in a single image. The older woman & child with perhaps a third person on the cell phone and the young couple and person in the shoe and the photographer capturing the image. A moment where all of life's matters are paused for your Leica. 7/7 for your shot well done and for my little editing gift, perhaps a 3/3

Hopefully you will forgive my liberties with your nice image. Take care my friend and keep up the good work. ~Sky

  2. Swan lake - yes, KW needs to add you, Pnina, then you could show us how it's done. I'm afraid my part would cause it to be the "Comedy of Swan Lake"

I understand about time available for FB. It's not a problem, I'm only making an effort to keep up with technology, which is indeed very time-consuming. It does appear that it will be an interesting avenue of communication for me. Thanks for stopping by. I will see you about the World Wide Web. Have a nice weekend. ~Sky

  3. Oh, what good subjects. I'm going to have to go have a closer look in the garden now.

These can be sharpened in post processing and you might also play around a little with your flash while taking these, Margaret. Some fill-flash can really bring out the colors and also help with sharpness. One more suggestion, adjust your settings after each shot and take a few extra shots and you can see what worked best when you upload them to your computer.

I like this shot. I looks like those flowers are going to have a short life. I wonder how you say, "Timber!" in caterpillar? ~Sky

Hi, Tammy! Thank you, I love getting a "Cool" rating. I count that as one of the best. I'm also glad you like it. Yes, this is one aspect of smoothing wet concrete. This technique brings the "creme" of the cement mixture to the top and settles the aggregate (rocks) below the surface while leveling out the ridges and depressions in the wet concrete. It looks easy in photos but the operator has to avoid electrical lines, obstacles, and workers while producing consistant results with each pass. This was a 30 foot pole and only about a small amount of the total that was poured so he was tired by the end of this job. ~Sky

Margaret, how have you been? I'm glad you like this and viewed it large. There were so many details I wanted to leave in the image. As for the object at the end of the pole. (The piece setting on the wet cement.) It's a "bull float" or "float". It's a 3 foot plate of aluminum that pivots slightly at the end of the pole allowing the operator to level the variations in the wet surface. They used to be made from wood and weren't nearly so long and they were very heavy. They also didn't use to pivot, which adds a tremendous benefit and avoids stretching your arms as high as they will go while standing on the tips of your toes to try and prevent it from digging in. Glad for your visit. ~Sky

Kim, I'm glad you liked the treatment and the photo. I decided on black and white to reduce the distractions and allow one to peruse all the details in the photo. There were antlers everywhere. This was on a 6000 acre game ranch. I wanted to take the truck and shoot the whole place. They apparently have several Boone & Crockett's roaming the property. I always feel like I should have taken more pictures once they are uploaded. There's always next time. ~Sky

  4. Oh nice place. Now just wait for a bobcat to show up for a gander. Looks like a very fast stream but doesn't look so steep here. I like the silky water. Perhaps some whiter highlights will make it pop. I like the rock under the surface of the silk, too. ~Sky
