  1. Ha, Ken! Yes a good story or we've just come from the rodeo and can't be responsible after ill-fated bullrides. (No telling where a cowboy would end up after a bad bullride anyway...) Right? Great picture but I prefer a kilt! (Els is so much better than we are.) ~Sky

Els, hello. Very nice for your visit and kind words about the ladies. You are one of the wonderful few that made such a thought known - much to my blushing and pleasant, surprise. Thank you.

As for cowboys in the ballet, It's not so much what's wrong with cowboys at the ballet, it's more all of the fighting of one's way past every other dang cowboy that catches you coming out or goin' in and thinks it wasn't the place for a cowboy to be. My knuckles and jaw get so worn out... (LOL) Of course I'm joking but I know what the reality of such incidents are. All in the name of eduction, of course! And next week all the cowboys just might go... (As long as I win all the fights) & ~Sky

    Thumbs Up ...

          12

I love the confluence of activity in this photo but especially the "thumbs up" that conveys to me that, "At this moment, everything is A-Ok..."

Isn't there a hidden force in this world that seeks to eradicate scenes like this? Even a child knows when it's a "thumbs-up" moment! Nice shot. ~Sky

  2. Thanks Kim / Thank Ken!

Had a good laugh, Kim. Actually I was more intrigued with the movement; however, subconciously you might be right... ~Sky

Howdy Ken, I had the same thought (good imagination) I saw myself in a "Paint Your Wagon" setting but more awkward... Like I stumbled into the situation. Glad for the visit. ~Sky

  3. Hello Pnina,

I trust it was a restful vacation in Europe. I'm sure you also found some wonderful scenes to photograph.

I was excited to have you see this photo and relate my experience with you. I'm sure confirming what you knew it could be. I appreciate your comment for this image very much. It was indeed a challenge to expose for this dark setting. It was quite a different and pleasant experience for me as well. I was mesmerized several times. The music and the movement become hypnotic as the performance builds. I'm sure I will have little difficultly in being convinced to attend another performance anytime. Thanks again for revealing this world to me.

Best regards from your Texas friend,

    ~Sky

Alberto, thank you as well my friend. If not for Pnina, I wouldn't know how it should look. ~Sky

Thanks very much,Tammy. This was fun. I had to reach this age before I could allow myself to enjoy such and experience. We are often captive to our youth. ~Sky

Hey Kim, Can you see a cowboy in a ballet enjoying himself? I couldn't before this performance. Actually, I looked more like a photographer than a cowboy at this event. Wouldn't want too many people talking. If I can ever afford box seats I will wear my cowboy hat without a second thought; otherwise it hinders the view for too many folks. I'm sure I wouldn't have given something like this a second look in earlier years. Uh oh, I didn't realize I was becoming known for edge treatments. I liked the foggy look that this one gave. Thanks for your thoughts, Kim. ~Sky

  4. Glad that helped, Kim. I know a picture is supposed to be worth a 1000 words. Perhaps this one needed the lonesome desert in the BG. I'll have to try a sepia look. I'd love to make a sepia print available to buy. I wanted wooden rails but this was my only option; however, some PS work could make it possible.

Hoss was a great character. I hated when I heard ol'e Dan had passed away. He made the show. Gunsmoke was great, too. Miss Kitty would have never resorted to this kind of display... well maybe for Matt; she might have.

Glad for your visit and ideas. ~Sky

Hi Sheryl, Good to see you. Thanks for your comment. I'm glad you like it. She designed this dress herself and made it. Indeed, it is very pretty. ~Sky

I had a great laugh when I read this. I bet is was fun but honestly, more fun than the kids!

It is such a pleasure to have fun shoots. So far I haven't had any bad shoots but I have had a some very tiring ones. (That has been a surprise.) Very tiring. I slept like a rock. And since I'm on the topic of comments, thanks for your comments and visits and I love reading your candid remarks! It's refreshing to see.

[(back to invoking guilt) But more fun than J & C - I can just hardly believe that... ]

If I ever get close to the east coast again, I think it would be great fun to have a shoot together. If I get a destination wedding out your way, perhaps I could coax you into working as my second shooter. Keep having fun and remember your first love; they're just as fun to photograph in a different way, I'm sure. [(Imploringly) You just have to keep shooting them.] I know you have no intention stopping. I'm just giving you a ribbing for that comment...

Stay on Janis, I've missed seeing her posts as well. Hopefully all is well.

Hope ya'll are having a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. ~Sky

    Cuidado!

          27

Cuidado indeed! This would be my last ride if I had to do it. Nice capture. I but that would be a great perspective for photos. I've often wanted to put on stilts for a bit more altitude, also done with caution. I would perish on one wheel, however. I really like the set and the attentive crowd. Here in America, 50% would be texting instead of watching. (LOL)

Red ants, fire ants, black ants, and two or three other varieties at least. I have to watch where I sit. I like the red (Harvester ants) they're fun to watch but painful. The fire ants are hellish. They cover you in an instant if you are'nt careful. They seem to be a definate plague.

We are finishing with our bluebonnets and now the indian blankets are pretty thick and the cactus flowers are in full bloom. I intended to go out today and get some shots of them but we've gotten some nice rain here as well. I guess I need to get some shut-eye.

BTW, I explained that expression for you but don't go read it unless you have a lot of time.

    Goodnight, ~Sky

  5. Margaret, I half way expect this little guy to pop up with a top hat and cane and start singing, "Hello my baby, hello my honey..."

My imagination got carried away and took me back to that old cartoon... (LOL)

I'd put him in a shoebox and sell him on Ebay.

Hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend and I hope the rain is not flooding where you are. Sounds like monsoons over there. ~Sky

(I'm still smiling, I just know he's gonna stand up and start singing - probably right after I close this screen.)

  6. Thanks so much, Kim. As for the expression...

    Think, High Chaparral:

John Cannon and the ranch hands are still gone - their days of absence are stacking up and the young lady staying with them on the ranch in the middle of the Sonoran desert is restless, lonely, and impatient for their return - well at least Manolito's return. Anyway, as the sun is setting it's clear they aren't going to make it on this day either...

Did you ever watch High Chaparral? I always enjoyed it and Victoria Cannon was hot. All that said, that's the expression here; "Another Day of Waiting..." Of course, this is a modern version. I don't know that a scene like this ever existed but it's what I thought of when I took this photo. (I think she is contemplating a 24" x 36" print and it looked much better before I reduced it for PN.)

It's a melancholy, wistful look of disappointment but with hope for tomorrow still in tact...

Did that help any? (LOL) It could probably be a scene from the Ponderosa, too. I just can't picture her waiting like this for Hoss or Little Joe and she'd run from Pernell Roberts, I'm sure!

Glad for your visit and I hope you're having a good Memorial Day weekend. Finally getting some rain here.

Beautiful job. Makes me want to grab my camera and head outside to just sit and watch the bees buzz and grass grow...

and maybe take a photo or two. (Then God gives us fire ants to keep us from staying in one place too long.) ~Sky

  7. Now that's a gorgeous perspective, Kim. I don't think that I've seen them presented like this before but I recognized them immediately.

    A WORD OF WARNING:

You had better be careful or you are going to show up Ansel Adams. (I have a feeling he'd be proud though!)

This spot looks familiar! Not that I've been here but from your earlier photos. It's a pretty spot at any rate and you were there at the right time and did a great job capturing it. ~Sky
  8. Always happy to see your photos; although, your titles sometimes take my breath away. You take care of yourself and I trust that you are doing well. Glad to hear of your new camera. I like that model of Nikon. Sometimes I require lighter and smaller but have yet to make a decision on this type of camera. (Perhaps a new Leica... I only wish)

    Best regards to you Els,

    ~Sky

P.S. I will have a long visit with your photos next time I have a high-speed connection!

  9. Note for Pnina: This is my first, Pnina. Thank you very much for the inspiration. I enjoyed the experience very much. Best regards to you. ~Sky

    --------

Of course, each of you are welcome here and I appreciate you taking time to view any of my photographs. It is my first time to see ballet in person and to photograph one as well. I don't know that I would have anticipated any enjoyment while attending had it not been for my friend, Pnina Evental, and her inspirational dance images that she shares with everyone here on PN.

    ~Sky
