Best head for hour long night photos?
Edwin Barkdoll replied to chrismitchell's topic in Beginner Questions
Ditto what paddler4 said. Keep in mind the weight of your camera and lens – you want the tripod/head weight limit to exceed the weight of the cam/lens it supports. I also like the ability to attach a weight, e.g. rock in a cloth bag to hang from the center column for increased stability. A center column hook can make that easier to implement, but definitely isn't necessary. -
I want to transport my Epson R2400 printer a few thousand miles. I can either take it with me as checked baggage or I can ship it via UPS or the equivalent. Assuming I have it thoroughly packed, protected, print heads stowed, etc is there a compelling reason to prefer one transportation method over the other (neglecting the expense difference)? Thanks!

Flower of a grass, perhaps Canada bluegrass. The feathery part is the female stigma and is 2-3mm long.

Time between Nikon i-TTL preflash to main flash?
Edwin Barkdoll replied to BeBu Lamar's topic in Lighting Equipment
Well, as a lark I took a "Slo-Mo" video using my iPhone (240 fps) of my SB-800 (1/1) on my Z7. Looking at the resulting video step-by-step yielded a crude estimate of 60-70 ms delay between the preflash and the main flash. In the past I've been frustrated by this delay when trying to take photos of hovering deer flies: their reaction times are shorter than the delay so that by the time the shutter trips and the main flash fires, the flies have moved significantly. -

Not meaning to be snarky, but the “worst” that could happen to me isn’t that I die. I don’t think there is a particular photo I would like to be remembered by - none of them is that important to me. If such a photo exists it would have to be chosen by any of my survivors - I’ll let them decide rather than foisting my desires on them.

We saw a bald eagle attack a great blue heron on our pond about a month ago – interrupted the GBH's dinner (ours as well). The eagles routinely attack/harass gulls and sea ducks by our house.
