Shawn, it was not marked as such and most of the dates were pre-civil war, so I don't think so. I noticed women were buried there, as well. It is located near the little historic town of Deerfield, Ma, and we go to the area often, as this is where my husband comes from. Next time I will check into the history of the graveyard more thoroughly. Most might find it eerey to walk among all of those tombstones, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will also take some pictures of the inscriptiones, as they were quite unique. Thanks for your interest. B ;)

You are welcome, Michael!

...thank you for your comments :)

A grave yard in western Massachusetts. Most of these tomb stones date back to the early or mid 1800s. I found the different shapes and sizes fascinating, like walking through a sculpture garden. :)

Dave, I was going to say something clever and profound about this image, but it took me so long to scroll to the bottom, I forgot what is was. I will try to catch your next creation a bit earlier. B :)

Nice image, GJ - your zoom certainly came in handy here. The golden dome stands out well against the dark background. Did you get to see the 'rock' itself? I have been there twice - twenty years apart. What struck me the second time around were the immense security measures and installations in that area and especially near the Wailing Wall. There was always that sense of terror, yet people went about their business as usual. One of the most amazing places in the world, in my opinion. B :)

Another good find, Dave. I was thinking about Obama's quote, and agree with it as well. Marx's too, of course. Today on the news they said - if true? - that 90% of Catholics attend Sunday mass in the US, compared to only 10% of European Catholics. Makes one think, huh?!
One reason may be that most Americans neither trust their government, nor expect much help from it in general. Comparing our social safety net to that of Europe, ours is not only much thinner, but it is full of holes, which one can easily slip through.
Not an easy existence for many, so they do want a protector, a friend and father figure they can trust and who will always be there for them.... even if it is just in their imagination. Oh my, getting way too serious here! But, anyway, that's what I love about your images, they always give us food for thought. So take care, my pal, and keep shooting. Barb :)

Pierre, the bird reminds me of someone...hmmmm, let's see, I wonder how he would look with a red head scarf?! Anyway, another witty shot - made me smile. Well done! B ;)

Love this one, David. I would not have chosen to have the nearest light pole smack center, but that exactly is the reason this image works. The pole seems to take on an almost threatening quality, like a sergeant ordering the troops to stand tall. And I agree, the lightpole on the left and the flag has to go. But in any case, as usual, well seen! B :)

Love those strange little puffs of clouds in the dark sky here. The swing set is almost as big as the school house and I suppose an American flag used to fly on the pole next to it. Nicely presented, Joe! ;)

Very nice, Mehmet. It makes me wonder, however - where were you when you took this? On a tree? On top of a roof? :)

I do! Tones, colors, composition - they all work for me! It has a very peaceful mood.

Very unusal and creative shot and well executed! Poor bugs - they live in constant danger of being stomped on. B :)

Reversed reality - love it!!! B :)

What a sweetie - the princess AND you! Being an 'Oma', I know exactly how you feel. Grandkids are the 'golden' part of our golden years, that's for sure. You are lucky you live close to yours, not that common in this day and age. Have a great Sunday, grandpa, and Happy Birthday to the Princess! Barb :)

Of course, Pierre, AND the Greeks AND the Romans. Credit where credit is due! :)

Shawn, I am glad you noticed the sign, actually - I will have to pay more attention to this sort of thing in the future.
David, yep, I know what you mean. My husband is looking into implants at present - they cost more than a luxury car. My suggestion to get the car and for him to change to a 'soup only' diet did not go over too well, though. :)

What sign??? Kidding - I removed it. I think it said "To the Restrooms" :)
Standing tall - sort of - for 200 years
