  1. I'm not as impressed by the weight as I am by the slime/algae that covers it.

The feel here is one of being lost--swallowed up by nature.  It's a compelling scene, enhanced by all the space.

Jack:  She's becoming a different creature, still sweet most of the time, but there's a steely stubbornness that's starting to take hold.   Carlos:  This wasn't posed.  It was a snapshot taken on vacation.  I can see your point about the crop, which wasn't purposeful, but I thought the gaze and light made up for the flaws.   David:  Thank you.  She's tough to photograph these days.  She's in perpetual motion.

    Azteca

The four of us traveled to the mountains of Colorado last weekend for Latin American Heritage Camp, in which about two hundred adoptive families celebrate the cultural background of our children and talk about the unique issues surrounding interracial/intercultural adoption. This was taken from a ceremony with Aztec dancers who closed each day with dancing, punctuated by loud drums and puffs of incense. My kids are Mayan, not Aztec, but it was interesting to learn the distinctions between various countries, ethnic groups, and even villages that are often obscured by the catch-all term "Hispanic."

    The Family Car

Ominous eye. Love the drama created out of nothing.
  8. This has a nice sheen to it.  I'm curious about how you do your post-processing.  There's an expectant sentiment to these bikes.  Longing?  How the mind projects....!

    Surprise Package

The natural stage-lighting effect seems to awaken your trademark cone. I think the sickly orange-green cast works with the bumblebee costume.

    Hopper's Dream

Even before I scrolled down, Edward Hopper came to mind. A beautiful capture.
  11. I love the blur. It's absolutely beautiful.
  12. Very, very nicely handled. A little more subtle treatment than some of your other captures, which makes sense here. The delicacy of the subject would be crushed with a heavy-handed treatment. The smudgy, blended background really makes the shot for me.

  14. The face poking out from the bottom is great. The others are oblivious, but he's locked in on you. I like the color scheme--metallic blue and cranberry red.
  15. Aptly titled. Nicely handled.

    Spring: Driftwood II

The reflections drifting through the middle of the shot are gorgeous.

    Natural expression

The scarring down the center adds a nice rhythm.
  18. He casts an odd profile. Sharp. The glasses usher the feel along.
  19. Um....maybe not.... The little hint of color with the rusted shutter and the little blue address plaque (?) acts as a candy coating.

    Familia

Very sweetly captured. It's interesting how the stone has a little different color cast than the mother and child. Intentional?
  21. I like the composition. Did you brighten his face and skin? It seems to have more grain than the rest of the shot (which isn't a criticism as much as curiosity).

    Elegance.

I like the color, first and foremost. The small version pixelates on my screen, but the larger version opens up with some beautiful detail.
  23. A theatrical piece with the white-screen fence as the backdrop. I have the urge to peek over the fence to see what the actors are doing when not center stage. Four distinct tonalities create a graphic starkness.
  24. You've found a clue! I get the sense that every capture you take is a puzzle piece that you're perpetually trying to fit together so that life makes some sort of sense. Good luck with that! I always like your work because I know there's a lot of thoughtfulness and a big dollop of humor with each shot.
  25. The gold sheen and the texture add character to this already pretty scene.
