Kaushik, Art, Kim, Dale: Thanks for all the comments. I did soften the image using a PS technique to bring an impressionist paining feel. When I saw this scene in last Nov in upstate NY/CT border, I had this image in my head. Colors were at peak - but I had to wait a long time to get a soft light and right comp that I was after. Glad that you all liked it

Fantastic light - well seen

Good sharp image but overdone color and high contrast light. You could have make the composition interesting by placing camera close to the ground (by capturing more reflection) - the ground in the left bottom corner does not add anything but distraction. I like the framing using the tree. Good start though - I like your portfolio

With all due respect, this location is very common in Canadian Rockies - contrary to all the back country, far-remote locations that I love about your portfolio. However, the winter condition and nice light makes this image. I like it - but this will probably not go in your book (if you ever get time publish it)

This is probably your best one ..love the water formation. Was there another shot to emphasize the foreground more (camera at a lower position and close to the water movement)? Just a thought for a different interpretation..

Wish you a very happy new year. This photo is wonderful - I like the effect you have been able to bring to the sky. I would have loved tp see more of the cottage - but what place our Himalayas is - it never stops to amaze me

Wish you a very happy new year. A great piece of art - very intriguing

Well..you got it Unni. I could not move anymore as I would have fallen into the sea with my tripod. The orange thing is not a problem - I can easily photoshop it out (looks like it's bothersing everyone), I did not do it here. May be I will do it if I like to make a big print. And the net obstructing the lighthouse - well, that was part of my composition (I wanted to see the structure through the net for a dramatic effect - rather than two objects not interacting with each other)- but yes, full reflection of the lighhouse could have made me happier. Anyway, thanks for your comments. See u around

Is this Kedar Dome? Taken from Tapoban area?

This must be a work of fine art as many find it that way and as it has been chosen as POW. But, many of us would probably not even take this photo or throw it away later even taken. Definition of fine art is always confusing - I personally do not find this photo any special. But as I am reading the comments, some people are "seeing" things that I don't see or don't find to be exciting or special. Surely not my cup of tea - but when I glance through Eirik's portfolio, this kind of makes sense. Sometimes a portfolio tells more about the photographers' vision and personality than just one photo - and this photo is not definitely the one

The idea of taking photo of computer monitor is really silly - I rather watch this completely computer generated shot. This is a matter of personal taste - an image that does not start with a photo, does not even use a camera and completely made out of software should not be called a photograph - I dont even call it digital manipulation. I am probably very silly

Crisp color and sharpness - is this place very remote?

Good comp, but the snow and cloud is burnt out.Grad ND may solve this

Brian, You don't have to explain anything - this is such a great image. May be not everyone's cup of tea - this is from a different genre. I am happy that this was chosen as POW as it gives us a different flavor and idea about how diverse the photography can be. I never used Polaroid and never thought that it could have been an interesting format - now I see your photo and portfolio to find that one with real talent and eye can create art with any kind of camera/medium - not surprising, but comforting. To me, this photo works due to subjects, their interaction with each other, the theme harmonized with the light and composition. Congrats

Actually I was there last year - you have got perfect condition. One thing about this - everything is too centered. Perfect exposure
-
Inspiring idea - but lighting is a bit harsh. Well done though
