Draws attention to subject Very interesting

The mist and the area dispersing directly in front of the man, creates a tentative atmosphere and encourages the viewer to study the person more carefully.

 

The seeming anachronism of the ceramic western-looking coffee mug, adds an amusingly enigmatic touch to an already mysteriously enigmatic scene.

 

In other words, it's an intersting picture.

I'm curious to know the context of the image. What was he doing wilst drinking his beverage. Was he a shepherd? It reminds me of a similar shot I took in Peru, it didn't have all that misty atmosphere, though.

Aaron - the context here is that i was on a morning tour at this geyser field - the El Tatio geysers - in the high altitude of the Atacama desert - some 13 to 14,000 ft if i remember right. we got up there at the crack of dawn to see the sunrise. this guy was a guide on another tour enjoying his morning mate, trying to keep warm. reminds me a lot about the place - i've got this one frame up on my wall. thanks for the question!
