i like the composition and tonality in this shot very much! it is a tad overexposed, but perhaps if you shot RAW or have PSCS, you can "fix" that.
-
I like how the "frames" here frame each different portion of the image. Nice catchlight in the little kid's eyes. only thing i might suggest is straightening out the picture - the "windows" and the edges show that it is tilted a bit downwards to the right. other than that, as well as the pastelly brown of the frame (i suck at naming obscure colors) which of course isn't in your hands, this is an excellent shot!

Wow, this must take a lot of patience and creativity! i'd be curious to see the initial shot(s) you used to get to this.
-
interesting shot here - i guess he's the dunce in the corner? must have been some tall individuals to place the cone on top.

wow becky, excellent shot! i also like the horses version as well. a scene like this works great in color and would go quite well in IR or b&w i think. i really like the cloud formation on the right.
-
i actually like the boat coming out - adds a bit of 3-D to it. perhaps a b&w conversion candidate?
-
This was shot wide open and toned in PS. Although the colors on the
slide look vivid, IMHO, i like the simplicity and elegance of this
toning better. As always, your comments are appreciated.

i like this shot better than the other one you have in your portfolio. i agree with the other poster that a similar shot during sunrise/sunset (not sure which direction we are looking from here) might make this a more powerful image. i would also zoom out just a tad - the lines, especially at the top, are just that - too linear. having a bit more sky and a bit more water would make it less "rushed" in my mind. looks like a very interesting place.

i think the cat's pose here is quite elegant. nice shot! sorry to hear about its demise.
-
excellent work here! only thing i would care to see and compare with the current version would be to place the gull higher up on the page (yet same vertical line), so it would be in that bit of blue patch at the top right third. i definitely feel like this is a perfect moment!

ok, here is the untouched version scanned in from negative. the lighting wasn't quite as "yellow" on this as the other shots in the same location.

In response to the tonings, my reasons for choosing a sepialike look were severalfold. First of all, this shot was taken with strong tungsten lighting present in the room. Also, the groom's outfit was also yellowish, so that just made for too many yellow things, IMHO, as is. Second, many of my parent's wedding shots were done sepia, so in trying to match the actual day wedding shots, i was trying to "mimick" this. In fact, many of my relative's old country wedding shots are in sepia. Hence, my choosing sepia. If i had been using color corrected film and paid more attention to color to begin with, i guess i could have done things differently. Thanks for the comments.

Tell me the guy isn't checkin' out the mannequin?

Funny thing is, that when i first looked at this shot in thumbnail, i thought it looked "normal". It wasn't until i started examining it further that something looked amiss. So in that sense, your efforts paid off well - the viewer having to really investigate to see if what was presented was true or not.
-
Definitely not mine (jitters that is). i have nothing to be jittery about - still enjoying the fun single life! Funny thing is, the groom was sick throughout the wedding evening/night/early morning. Point well taken in terms of the rest of your response, Knicki. Thanks.
-
it's funny you mention that, because he was on the phone with the other hand and i looked away for a moment ready to snap the pic, and saw that he had moved hands. unfortunately, there was something hanging from the wall/people just behind him on his right, which would have "polluted" the shot that way. so, i guess moral of the story is for me to shoot faster! thanks for your comments.

The groom on the phone moments before the wedding began. Your
comments/critiques (especially bad) are most welcomed. I believe i
shot this with a 420EX bounced off the ceiling (first time using a
flash). Thanks again.

interesting looking ruins.

i almost missed the animal at the top of the rocks. i think this shot would be more effective (seeing the animal) if you zoomed in more. of course, you might have been zoomed out to the max here with your equipment.

-
due to the background objects beyond your control, i dont think this shot is as "effective" as some of the others in your folder. if possible, i would have turned more to the left to get more of the bike in the view. killer shorts, however!

excellent composition and toning.

Ok, another shot that i liked from my brother's wedding. since it was
not posed, yet actual "life in progress", another person happened to
be in the back. i tried blurring them out somewhat, but couldn't
quite get the highlights of the glasses to go away (my PS skills are
somewhat limited). anyhow, i like the look on the girl's face. your
comments/suggestions are welcomed. thanks.
No title. Please COMMENT ONLY, NO RATINGS please. I am only interested in improving - not numerical scoring. Thanks.

Your thoughts/criticisms are much appreciated. THis was shot wide
open, to get nice OOF effects, which made the main subject not quite
as sharp as i would have liked. thanks.
