    Play with me?

I like how the "frames" here frame each different portion of the image. Nice catchlight in the little kid's eyes. only thing i might suggest is straightening out the picture - the "windows" and the edges show that it is tilted a bit downwards to the right. other than that, as well as the pastelly brown of the frame (i suck at naming obscure colors) which of course isn't in your hands, this is an excellent shot!

pedro, i dont know if you manipulated the colors in the vegetation/grass any, but the hues there are quite vivid and appealing, and IMHO, make the livestock stand out even more. i wish we could see the white animal's head - darn that little tree in front! good job!
  1. i like this shot better than the other one you have in your portfolio. i agree with the other poster that a similar shot during sunrise/sunset (not sure which direction we are looking from here) might make this a more powerful image. i would also zoom out just a tad - the lines, especially at the top, are just that - too linear. having a bit more sky and a bit more water would make it less "rushed" in my mind. looks like a very interesting place.
  2. In response to the tonings, my reasons for choosing a sepialike look were severalfold. First of all, this shot was taken with strong tungsten lighting present in the room. Also, the groom's outfit was also yellowish, so that just made for too many yellow things, IMHO, as is. Second, many of my parent's wedding shots were done sepia, so in trying to match the actual day wedding shots, i was trying to "mimick" this. In fact, many of my relative's old country wedding shots are in sepia. Hence, my choosing sepia. If i had been using color corrected film and paid more attention to color to begin with, i guess i could have done things differently. Thanks for the comments.

Funny thing is, that when i first looked at this shot in thumbnail, i thought it looked "normal". It wasn't until i started examining it further that something looked amiss. So in that sense, your efforts paid off well - the viewer having to really investigate to see if what was presented was true or not.
  3. it's funny you mention that, because he was on the phone with the other hand and i looked away for a moment ready to snap the pic, and saw that he had moved hands. unfortunately, there was something hanging from the wall/people just behind him on his right, which would have "polluted" the shot that way. so, i guess moral of the story is for me to shoot faster! thanks for your comments.

i almost missed the animal at the top of the rocks. i think this shot would be more effective (seeing the animal) if you zoomed in more. of course, you might have been zoomed out to the max here with your equipment.
  4. Ok, another shot that i liked from my brother's wedding. since it was

not posed, yet actual "life in progress", another person happened to

be in the back. i tried blurring them out somewhat, but couldn't

quite get the highlights of the glasses to go away (my PS skills are

somewhat limited). anyhow, i like the look on the girl's face. your

    comments/suggestions are welcomed. thanks.
