When viewed in the abstract, this is a striking photo. I'm guessing the reason why some commenting are having difficulty with the upper and lower halves is that this is possibly a composite of two different dunes in different lighting. If not, then I join you in the wondering...

Horizon a bit tilted? Gorgeous light and color.

Elisabeth - you are making beautiful photos. This one is alluring. It invites our coming along to see what view is at the end of this walk.

Scott: I love your landscape work, especially the West folder. You are self-humbling in your bio... no need to be! Fine work, and a strong presence on this site.

I think I see what you were doing with the second version, but I really like the fuller tonality and smoother look of the original as well. They're both very good!

Your allowing this to be low key adds very much to the effect. The highlights and texture make it very interesting. Did you add light to the window frames? excellent touch!

So many wonderful things are happening in this photo: color, blossoms, children, selective focus, movement, leading lines... a masterful execution of a beautiful happening! Thank you for posting this fresh and beautiful image!

Alex: I'm a bit surprised this good photo hasn't gotten critiques or higher ratings. I like it. Maybe what separates the 6's and 7's from this is more dramatic light (earlier or later in the day). I like the foreground treatment. Sky seems a bit noisy. Maybe compression? This is sixes for me.

Very interesting abstract treatment of subject. I'm curious; what part of the guitar is it? This is technically very sharp and well designed.

Actually, I like the slightly softer focus on the "princess" and sharper rendering of the plant. And the juxtaposition of subjects in the frame seems perfect to me. The blue adds a coolness to the scene that is almost otherworldly, in light of it being in the desert. It's kind of mystical. Nice work!

Simply phenomenal, Alec. The colors and placement of exposure values are excellent. Makes me wish I could go back there. Your stitched panoramic photo is almost like being there!

Harry, you are one amazing photographer!

Michael - from your January 1st portfolio I can see that you have a really nice combination of talents working - a good eye for subject/composition, and a technical sense for focus, exposure, development, printing. You appear to be a consumate guy!

Michael - I love your Tri-X/D-76 work. The old classics still work! Makes me wish I hadn't given away my darkroom to that young, aspiring photog. last summer! Howard (Gone mostly digital)

Your photos consistently come up as outstanding and each is unique. Sevens again!

This is one of the most captivating and enchanting photos I have ever seen. Magical! The northern lights, colors on snow and composition are incredible!
