1.
yeah I'm looking forward to some pics from the model scope, I thought my fd macrophoto lenses setup on autobellows was crazy but that thing beats it...looks crazy. Here's a link to an interesting article I saw a while back, model photography where the guy is shooting cars etc combined with existing streetscape.

http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2013/10/forced-perspective-model-car-photos/

 2.
I agree the gopro is no 5d, and I considered it a toy until I recently got one. The ability to use the gopro wifi/app on my android tablet to work the gopro has changed my thinking a bit.

The exercise Charles describes above sounds like a labor of love. Lewis, just have the architects build the models to 1/16 scale, they'll appreciate that. (I work with architects a lot and love to give them a hard time)

 3.
GoPro. Put it on a stick, some interesting shots, esp. if the roof comes off of the model and you can lower the gopro inside the model for interior shots.

 4.
I love it when an old thread gets exhumed. +1 to Daniel Bayer.

 5.
B&H has the GH3 new for $997/$1097, seems to fluctuate weekly, day of the week. What kind of condition is the 5d2 in for similar price?

What the others have said re lenses you own etc. None of my Canon dslrs shoot video I do use the GH2 and enjoy it for a change of pace, mainly bought it to use the panny 7-14 lens. I also use older Canon FD lenses AND eos lenses on the panny with cheap adapters. No comparison with still images though, my Canon's win in that dept. My weak point is not my equipment, it's my video editing skills, more specifically lack thereof.

You will probably get better answers at sites geared more towards video, ie hv20.com, phillip bloom, etc. Lots of comparison videos on vimeo. Good luck.

 6.
yes if they can place 4k in the tiny gopro it can certainly be done in the consumer dslr bodies. Personally I'm still in 720p learning video editing.

 7.
I looked at the pic of your two kids, and I don't see any noise, either. I downloaded and viewed at 100% in PS.

I can see you standing in your driveway(?) in the kids' eyes.

 8.
I do a ton of digital, but I still enjoy the "hands on" of film and my wet darkroom. Plus the scotch is more rewarding sipping while looking at wet prints or film hanging...

 9.
to tack onto what Mark Wahlster said, it took me a couple of full rolls in the late 80's of full moon shots on Kodachrome 64 before I realized the moon is a BW subject, and I could save a lot of money by shooting it on my bulk Panatomic-X. ;0. Still it's a fun subject to shoot, I'm always trying to get it near dusk with a jetliner in the picture (live in a high air traffic area) but not successful yet.

 10.
Paul, I have the Mk1. I bought a couple of months ago from B&H. If I buy new digital cams, I tend to buy them at the end of their life cycle. I was aware of all the shortcomings of this camera when I bought it. I'm normally a scenic/static type photographer with my g series, but use them a lot with kids and sports grab shots. Since I've had the G1x I haven't picked up the g12 or g9 other than to take the memory cards out to use elsewhere....if I was a smart man I'd put them on ebay, as the wife says...Bott om line is I'm very happy with the g1x. I am not a pixel peeper, and probably have "lower" standards than some here.

I will say the only drawback I've noticed was last weekend was doing some grab video at one of my kids swim meets, on the pool deck, my son and another kid were talking, and zoomed at the widest it wasn't focused on the kids, I was way too close, like a head was filling the frame....anyway lesson learned and I had forgotten about the limited close focus. I did buy a +5 or something diopter when I bought the cam for macro shots. I do miss the extended zoom of the g9, but it's not a deal breaker. Tom

 11.
I have fancy eos and large format lenses and cameras, but Canon's G series is my go-to for hiking and travel. (9,12, 1x). Yes the optical finders are cr*ppy, but the batteries go on forever if I keep the lcd screen off, and the simplicity of not having to change lenses and light weight outweighs the slight increase in image quality with the larger systems.

I also find a small Manfrotto table top tripod with small ball head invaluable, mine is 209.

 12.
Also consider the 100mm macro.

 13.
Assuming you mean crowd as in wedding or party where you can move around a bit, as opposed to a train station stampede...the lowly 50mm 1.x seems to fit the bill. I have some of the fancy zooms, but the 50 never disappoints. You probably already have though, since you said you have a number of primes. I do like the 2nd body 1.6x comment.

 14.
if you can't find it searching, just go backwards in the archive. January 2014 wasn't that long ago...

my curiosity on this topic was ended after I read Bruce Fraser's (rip) Camera Raw book 10 years ago, mine is old copy.

I don't always print or save articles I want to refer to later, but if I do I print to pdf...

 15.
you can get nb10L (mark 1) batteries at sterlingtek for $12. I have about a dozen bp-511s and earlier G-series third party batteries from Sterling, and they work as the Canon originals.

You could write the Sterlingtek guy and ask if he has any plans to sell the Mk2 battery. Love my G1x.

 16.
the first shot is underexposed, as someone else mentioned. Looks like a sloppy processing error by the lab, and not light leaks from the camera. You should still test the bellows for pinhole leaks, and can you develop some BW film yourself?

 17.
Wow Bill that was fast, you must live close to Atlanta. Congrats on the lenses. Be careful though, you'll soon find yourself wanting an FD Autobellows or some kind of slide rail....have fun...

 18.
Wednesday morning here on the left coast, looks like both items are sold. I buy all my used lenses (canon fd, hasselblad, large format) from keh due to their generous warranty.

 19.
The $5.95 cost you quote as high is probably to take care of the "free" shipping to them, assuming you're using their postpaid mailers or printing out their pre paid usps label. I'd say the $5.95 is about right for shipping BOTH ways. "Free" shipping is one of the biggest marketing scams out there, along with "organic" and a few others....

 20.
It's like when your dog of 15 years dies, you don't replace her right away....Sell your Nikon gear, then use your camera phone for a year, then come back and re-evaluate your needs. Just my 2 cents.

 21.
I have the fd 200 f4 macro and almost always use on tripod, and these days mostly on eos or u4/3 via adaptor. I also have the fd 50 macro and it is a nice lens. I actually shot my sisters outdoor wedding on the 50 macro years ago. I do like the 100macro but my experience is limited to the EF version.

i see the fd 100 macro at keh for less than $140

 22.
I'd recommend going with the superzoom as Jos and Rob suggested. Do some searching there are some fantastic bird and other pics taken with those cameras.

No disrespect intended, but it seems like you're not that much into photography based on your current equipment. The 100-400 or similar as recommended can be intimidating for someone not used to it. Also, not sure of your age or physical condition, but in my 50's I find that I appreciate the light weight and portability of my G series or u4/3 bodies, which almost always outweighs the slight increase in image quality with my dslrs and white lenses for trips, especially if air travel is involved.

 23.
Never used a 1N but I love my 1VHS and 3. Don't have an opinon on the Elans, closest I got to that was an A2 which was a sweet quiet camera before the typical dial failure, but personally I llike the 1 series better, both film and digital. If the Elan doesn't have the custom function for thumb focus, would be a deal breaker for me. $150 for the 1N seems like a fair price for that condition.

Here's a link that compares the 1 series and 3, although maybe only of interest to you in showing the 1n specs.

http://photonotes.org/reviews/1-1n-3-1v/

 24.
David $tephen$ you're selling me on the 2x iii converter!

Igor, nice shot, good to see someone else using the 20 2.8.
Tom

 25.
So to summarize, the lens is a penis substitute for the impotent wheelchair-bound photographer. :)

After I saw Robin Williams in "One Hour Photo" I stopped volunteering info that I have a darkroom at home, photographers in the movies and cop dramas are usually portrayed as psychopathic freaks.
