I think it is one of the better images of this tower I have seen. Kind of surrealistic appearance, and it draws attention. My only gripe is that the vertical lines in this image should be kept vertical IMHO, because the slight lean to the right is a bit distracting.

Very good image. It is not crowded - just four elements, and very well arranged. The watermelon lighting creates kind of 2D object appearance, which initially I thought is a flaw (different orientation probably would create a more 3D appearance) - but, on consideration, I think it works the way it is. It kind of draws the eye toward it because of its 2D aspect, and helps the basket to pop out of the 2D image. Just my $0.02 ;>)

Very good technically IMHO - although I am not expert on portraits. At any case, this image captures perfectly the feminine side of the (very pretty) model. It is soft, unobtrusive, not in-your-face - and the very good light only helps in creating an interesting portrait.

Well - the explanation sounds simple, but the execution is kind of difficult (not so much if one can shoot 10 frames a second, though ;>). Well done anyway.

I would like to see a bit more contrast in this image. It has nice uniform tonality, but kind of lack an anchor for the eye IMHO.

Oops...have to correct the above statement. I downloaded the image - and it looks much nicer in PS on my comp than on PNet...

Let's see how it looks like with a bit of a boost - hopefully after Saving for Web it will look more like the downloaded version.

OK, I will bite ! Mind it - all I have to say is from MY perspective - YMMV.

So - first thing, the sun in the right top corner. Maybe it was intended, maybe not, but the blown-out cloud+sun flare is distracting. Second - Not too much detail in the shadows - which is understandable, since the contrast of the scene is high. Maybe there was an opportunity for bracketing here (and stacking couple of images to create HDR image) ?

Third - I do not particularly like the crop, with lots of bush details in the RH lower corner. So - I took the liberty of downloading your image and messing with it a bit. Hope you don't mind.

I am not saying what I did is better - it is just different, but maybe it will help you to see that there are many ways of skinning a cat ;>)

I have tried to add a bit more contrast - the result attached. I guess it is a matter of preference - but (as said above) - the original version is a bit flattish.

As Fred said, plus I think that a bit more fill in the shadowy area of the face would do it some good. But - a pretty good image IMHO.

    Surprise!

Now - this is one of the better portraits you have produced. While I am not exactly sure about the tones - the girl's dress is not much different from the background (good), there is a bit a contrast between the left and right side of the face (and a lot of contrast between the face and the background/foreground) - good again.

I think it is well done.

  1. I do not have much expertise shooting portraits, but for what it is worth - here we go:

-what is the main subject in the photo ? In this case, the hat appears to steal the show. The face is kind of lost between bright hat and clothing.

-I think that in this particular case larger DOF would work better. There isn't much background to speak of, and as a consequence the unsharpness in areas outside DOF creates impression that the whole image is not sharp.
