Atle, thank you for taking the time. I agree with you on the cropping or trying my hand with the clone tool..now that I know just a tad more on how to get around Photoshop compare to when I first uploaded this. I'll give it a try sometime and hopefully you'll come back and give me your thoughts?
  1. I'm bias towards square formats - full marks there:) The landscape setting is beautiful as all your scapes are. I'm not as bothered by the motion in the leaves as much as the over bright patch in the sky and my wish list would include not having that middle/little tree there.

Thank you Anthony for your comment. Sorry for the very late come back, have not been too consistent here till recently :)

Your comment of the 'heavy top' makes good sense however, this shot was taken in a public park and if I remember correctly, the flowers really didn't have much leaves on them. As for converting to B&W, I love B&W, but in view of the other rich colours near by, I stayed true to the sea of rich hues. Thank you again for taking the time.

    Alan, I thank you too.

    Hi Anthony,

The mood you were going for is well captured. The darkness is fine. Personally, I would crop the lower part of the image - turning this to a square format, I feel would strenthen the mood even more?

Eyes of children tell the truth, don't they? Even without reading your comments, one look on their faces tell their minds and body are not at one :) Very cute catch Alan.

    Hi Patricia,

Perfect reflections, the mirror image is almost more perfect then the real scene with every detail pin sharp. I'm not sure what it is - could be there's 'too much' reflected that results in a rather busy scene or perhaps the colours are too rich? I wonder if the cyan in the sky's blue could be reduced just a little ? Hm..not sure.

  2. Lucky me - I came across your awesome portfolio via your 'woman in Rome'. Much time will be needed & found to enjoy & learn from each. As with other works of yours, this country land though not original in composition (what is!), has that same rich deep tones and glowing high lights threaded where light is called for. The leading curve of the road travels the eye to no end. Tranquil.

    Rusty Hooks

Thank you Jeff for your comment. These hooks were hanging in a line on a fishing boat (no idea what they are used for), the background was peeling white paint, I played with the idea of keeping the patchy background, decided to high key it in the end. Maybe I could lower the contrast a little - thank you again for taking the time.

Even though the same, all three take on different looks and feel. Personally I prefer this, these's a surreal/creative quality to it that give the difference. The daytime colour one and night one are more postcard perfect, this one is arty (for want of a better word).

The unusual angle and the clean B&W tones give this that striking look. I too would like to see a slight crop to the top. I saw an image much like this by "Jan Olof Harnstrom" recently...take a look, you may find it interesting.

    Oops...nearly forgot:)

Jimmy, I'm not good with PS at all..but like fiddling. Can't remember how I lightened this the first time, here, I used levels and selected colours and added sepia...what do you think?

The composition balanced by the two big trees and the far away layered hills is eye catching. The lack of detail in the foreground black....I hope you don't mind, I played in PS using 'selective colours - neutrals. Was able to lighten the foreground by much. Seems to work but probably will need burn tool help too. Just a thought :)
  3. Thank you Jimmy for the kind words of encouragement. I am too green at this art form to have any style of my own as yet. Names of those who inspire me could be 9 miles long :) Will indeed take deep long looks at Mr. Andrei Tarkovski's work.
