Nice pic. Isn't it just off Regent Street somewhere?

Well, the rule of thirds has been adhered to.... (image, canvass size), and I'm quite partial to a black border... and well, that's all I have to say.

All comments welcomed. It also is a nice B&W conversion

I've done my share of weddings, and this is an excellent shot, because of the reflections. The hot white reflection in the glass against the black interior of the car is also an excellent contrast. The fingers wagging out the window is a little distracting, but but gives the photo it's meaning. And an attractive bride always helps the photographer too.... Nice shot.

Two phrases DON'T come to mind when looking at this image and they are "Lacklustre Lighting" and "Plain Background". In response to the elves question what would you do differently, given that I only have a pan camera, I would be forced to leave out the ice foreground if I wanted to have the mountain in it. So here is what I would have done if I were in the same place, and if the subject matter is considered to be plain with lacklustre light, then I have a very different opinion to that of the previous poster.

Brian Well done. I usually enjoy the POW discussions from the sidelines, however as a landscaper, who loves the moors of Scotland, I have to comment. Regarding the foregound/background issue, there is no doubt that the best way to get depth into a wide vista lanscape is to include strong foreground interest. I especially like the inclusiion of the ice as it fills a space that would have otherwise been too dark had it not been there. It also adds a nice balance from the darker mid ground to the mountain behind. The tree is superb, and it's this classic silhouette that draws your eye backward. The two dark rocks in the mid ground also moves your eyes backward.
And for any of you who are thinking this colour is hammed up, think again. The third picture I uploaded to photo.net 3 or 4 years back is a shot from rannoch moor, probably very close to where this was shot (right Brian?) and the colours are almost identical.

Anyway, I agree with Marc on this one. A classic landscape photograph. Well done elves on this one, and well done Brian for barving the cold....

Thanks John, you are still my biggest fan!!

This is superb in every way.

My shot is taken further to the right (the belltower is more visible) You can drive right up behind it, and then jump over the ledge and you have a perfect view. Most shots of it are taken from exactly this angle.

This is a great shot. Reminds me of the day last summer when my brother took us out on his boat, however the tube didn't have the seat thingys, and my brother in law in the boat was't trying to be gentle. I was so stiff, I literally couln't sit down for a few days, and my shoulders had spasms for a week or so from holding on. Loads of fun, but I;m sure my face had a few of the expressions of the girls on my wild ride too. Hilarious...

Must have been a warm day, he had the top down!!
Nice shot.

Henri, well done mate! You deserve the accolades for this one.

Hi Martin,
Your shot is really great. Where were you when you took it?

I was sitting in this field in just late last year, and he came along in his tractor, and I thought that he was going to haul me off to the carribinieri, but he trundled straight past. I can't imagine why it has taken him this long!! I think people should definitely contribute, it would be a shame for him to retaliate and open up some more grazing area by chopping them down. If anyone has his details, I would like to make contact with him???
It goes without saying, great shot.
