Still working on this (thanks to a wet indoor play Saturday!) - any thoughts? I think the
B&W (courtesy of Silver FX with a little help along the way) - but does the integrity of
the shot still hold up? I hate (with a passion) the current obsession with photo
composites and just wonder if this is suffering from a little of their look and feel in my
efforts to up the visual drama of this shot. Your thoughts and comments very much
appreciated.

Trying my hand at fine art technique...I know, I know, I really should know better, but
hey, how else am I to fill a wet and windy Saturday afternoon? Seriously, this is a
project that I need to do very well with for the sake of the young ballerina who is
struggling with some self image issues at the moment. Any tips, advice, suggestions
you can make would be very much appreciated. The next round will probably be in the
studio with a mirror wall and ballet bar. All expertise shared is gratefully received!

Helpful comments appreciated as always

Interested to hear what you think. A colour version is in the same folder.

A great image with potential to go even further. Just one thought (and you may be fundamentally opposed to the very idea of what I'm about to propose): since we in the western world read left to right have you considered the possibility of flipping the image horizontally so that the eye can more naturally follow the line of the cliff across the image?
Also the magpie in me wants to make this into a commercial picture postcard type image by popping the colour, saturation and textures everso slightly. All IMHO of course!

Quite a strong image. Good composition and competent B&W conversion.
Nice detail in leaves and texture on trunks.
Middle point of sky above lower roof is just a shade too bright for my liking and ultimately becomes a distraction.
All in all a good image which would do well in competition.

I have a feline equivalent of this. Your picture is tac sharp with great colours and textures. Well seen. The blue lead/collar is a distraction though, it needs to go.

Love the vertical lines in the door/glass. Good B&W rendering.

Simple, beautiful and compelling. She's perfect for all her imperfections and I love the use of a cream background instead of white. Great work.

Hope you didn't have to hike from hours before dawn to get this one!
Composition is fine but the lack of head/beak/eye detail makes this an uninteresting image.

Sorry, I can't quite put this one together. It looks like a clever idea in principal but the end result is just uncomfortable. What am I looking at? My eye hops repeatedly to the missing top of her head, then back to the (quite well exposed) silhouette of the man. But why? What is it supposed to show/tell/ me?
Also the detail above the top bench is distracting.
There may be an image here but you need to go back and slightly recompose it with the aim of the photo clearly in mind before you press the shutter release.
All IMHO of course!

Working on my b&w conversion skills...comments appreciated

Fabulous composition as usual Alf. Know what you mean about the sensor spots though. They are the bane of my life!

Hard to turn local news paper coverage into decent photography (imagine
this printed 2" square in b&w poor quality and you get the idea) HOWEVER
I figure if I have to take the time to turn up I may as well take the trouble to
capture an interesting perspective on the charity bungee jump. Any
thoughts?

Months down the line gradually refining my post-processing
techniques...any improvement over the original? Suggestions, helpful
comments...please...

Took advantage of my wife's temporary absence as she lived the high life with her
mum for a few days, and set up a studio in the back room. Rebecca is a generous and
patient subject and I was quite pleased with the outcome. Helpful comments,
suggestions and improvements greatly appreciated as always.
