    Terrorist!

          6

Jim, what I mean't is to show what I saw in a balanced way. Sure there was some violence and agression (from both protestors and the police), but I'm not going to focus on that (unlike the mainsteam media), I want to portray what I saw as a whole. Hoping to load some more images onto my site at www.photoecosse.net later tonight. Then on Monday it's back to the day job, lord knows when this project will be finnish.

Anyway thank-you for your comments Jim.

Thanks Norman. I do hope that my photographs make people think. I've tried to cover as much of the G8 weeks as I can (as a demonstrator and photographer), and I'm trying to put together a series of photographs on my web site that fairly represent the week. It's hard in these situations to get composition etc spot on, and sometimes things just come together by accdient. I'm glad you generally like it, even if you don't agree with the sentiment.

  1. Good timing, good expression. I'd maybe chop a wee bit off the bottom to bring a little more focus on the relationship between her hands and expression. Very good shot though.

on Saturday the 2nd of July, in Edinburgh.

Wow! Might have been an idea to compose it so the feet didn't show under the bench (hey it's a critque forum). But I'm being way too fussy. This is great, really quite brilliant.

    Hello!

Hello Miles. A lot of people seem to like this. I'm happy enougth with it, but I don't see it as my best.

It's grainy because it's a grabbed shot. I had a 50mm lens on the camera at the time. This guy popped up at the window, I took a couple of steps over and fired the shutter three times, then hit the end of the roll. By the time I had the next one in he was gone. He pops up in one of my other shots from that day.

Oh the grain, it's backlit and I had to crop it, XP2 gets grainy in the shadows.

  2. Miles,

I'm a Instrument tech who takes pictures in his spare time. I'm not an English teacher.

You are the first person who's ever suggested my web site is pompous or the name is pretentious, though I do note that clearly you find it fascinating, which is good!

Meanwhile Miles, considering that this is a photographic critique forum, and indeed, that you are unable to discuss the substance, I'm going to have to log off this one. And (doh never start a sentence with and, doh doh doh!) that's despite the fact that this has been enormous fun.

Have a good day, and very best wishes,

  3. "Calm down; so flowers piss you off do they?"

Not at all, but any serious attempt to photograph them might. I'm much happier hammering away at things.

"I can almost feel you shouting"

Something must be wrong with your reception, you should be able to hear laugthter.

"No one is trying to get at you"

Miles, even if they wanted to, they couldn't.

Anyway back to critique, why is it so grainy, it's a bit soft too, and worse than that, though you have removed the silly copyright statement, it's sadly now been replaced by an e-mail address. Oh dear oh dear!

  4. "Gareth, are you always so angry with the world?"

I'm never angry at the world, only people.

"I'd like to see you do some nice macro flower shots - it might be therapeutic."

Not my thing Miles, I like looking at that kind of stuff, but trying to do it myself would really piss me off. What a thought.

    "Good luck with your career,"

Eh? Good luck with yours, what ever it is.

"maybe it's best if we agree not to interact. "

What ever. Meanwhile, may I suggest that if you choose to post a picture on a critique forum, well you accept that that's just what you might get. You might not like it, but with luck you might find it interesting or even helpful.

    Best wishes,

    Gareth.
