  1. Hi all,

I have a 70-200 VR and been using it with my D300. I recently eager to get a film body again, and it's

either the F100 or F5. My question is since I know that this lens has vignetting issues with FX Dslr

(D3) so how does this apply to Film which an FX itself? thanks for any information!.

  2. Hi all,

It's been a while since I posted on medium format forum (I sold my Rollei 6008i gear back in 2004 to went

digital) but as you all know there's always something about MF that I can not really forget) well I decided to

go back to MF again and this time I have a very good opportunity to get a very nice set up.

So a local photographer wants to sell his gear as he's about to retire, anyway he's offering me a very clean

condition 503 CW (two years old, original owner )with few lenses in excellent plus condition as follow:

    80/2.8 CFT, 120/4 makro Planar CFi T, 180/4 CF T, 60/3.5 CB T, three backs latest A24 (two of them )

and one E12 back, also PM45 prism finder, Metz CL45 flash with adapter and couple Lindahl shade system

    with filters.

All those he wants to let go for $3200, I really need to let him know in couple of days before he decide to

go to local photography store. So if you guys think that's a good price pls let me know and I think it's

good chance to me to enjoy MF again :). Thanks all! I appreciate any inputs!.

    Regards,

  3. Yes, you absolutely right about it but the price is still up there somewhere :(, can't really

justified even with the body alone D3. But when my wedding venture grow strong and

eventually can finance such gears of course no hesitation in mind on getting the best lenses

    and camera.

  4. Hi all,

I currently have this set up on my gear list D2h, S3pro and lenses as follow 12-24/f4 Tokina, 20-35/2.8

Nikkor AFD, 35-70/2.8 AFD, 50/1.8, 100/2.8 Micro Nikkor, 80-200/2.8 AFD (push pull). I'm thinking to

slim it down and get 17-55/2.8 with 85/1.4, will keep the 50/1.8. The rests would go on sale or trade. I

also would love to get the 70-200VR as I'm getting more "less stability" with my hand when holding the

80-200 so VR would be a great addition. Any of you currently using the set up I'm planning to use? (17-55

and 85), thanks and any input would be appreciated so much.

  5. Yeah what's up with that Ben! are you only looking for specific good looking/handsome/

pretty/beauty person? you might want to try modelling agency. Gosh I don't know these days

some people do still have discriminating policy based on their look not their performance or

work. Annie Leibovitz is no pretty by any means but she does make great pictures... Don't

know about you and I never heard your work anywhere.

  6. Have you thought on getting a wider zoom? like 17-40/4 or even the better one 17-55/2.8? I

see you have 28-135 but if I were you I will have wider zoom first then the telephoto as you

already have 85/1.8 in your gear. That macro lens is pretty much non factor in your wedding

gear. I rarely heard any wedding photographer use a macro lens. Well good luck anyway on

    your first one.

  7. I mean for portrait on full frame or the good old day of film, 85mm is the best focal length.

But on 1.6 crop digital camera is gonna be 127mm something focal length no too many room

to work with. I have used the 85/1.2 and it's just too tight or if you like a real close up, well

it's fine and you'll get good result.

  8. 10-22 is too wide IMHO, you will only need really wide few times but the 17-55 is by far I

guess the most popular lens to cover a wedding (Canon shooter). The 70-200 is handy at

most of the time so definitely a must. Offcourse # 1 is more way expensive than #2 but if you

do have the money why not?

I'm a nikon shooter and these lenses are my current set up 20-35(2.8) and 80-200(2.8), I do

have 35-70 and swap between the 20-35. Another lens I find very useful is 50(1.8) this one

is one damn cheap lens but it works and helps a lot. Eventho the crop factor made it 75mm

but I still find it very helpful.

  9. Bob, money is an issue right now. I know D3&D300 coming out in November but I don't want

to or matter fact don't have $5000 or even $2000 to spend on a camera right now. I bought

this S3 for $600 and is "good enough" for me. Camera don't make you a better shooter, you

make the camera a better shooter for you.

  10. "I can't wait to start using this camera (have a wedding coming up in 3 weeks)."

I hope that you aren't shooting for a lot of money or calling yourself a professional.

And even if you are just doing it as a favor to the bride and groom, try to find a second

    body to have on hand...

Conrad, I have D2H (2 of them but I'm sending one for service) so I have total 3 cameras if

the Nikon finished service my camera by then.

  11. Do they (Fuji) still offer the buffer upgrade program? I have to wait my camera to be here to

check if it's already upgraded (the owner is not sure whether it has been or not). Btw from my

search here totally JPeg is the most commom set on the run but if we certainly have time to

do pose (in between ceremony and party) I guess shooting RAW would not be a bad idea. And

then again this camera is famous for straight out of camera Jpeg files isn't it?

  12. For fuji shooters here on the forum, what settings you use the most? RAW or Jpeg? I've just bought an S3

last night and I use D2H currently (Always RAW set). Never have experience with Fuji before, the reason I

get it this time is I'd like to get S5 but D300 is coming out so I just hold on that and this S3 I can't really

let go cause got a real good deal ($600). I tend to use the S3 for posing scene and the candid I'll use D2H

(as speed matter). Thanks all for the infos!.

  13. Yes, I'm going old school with this pola back (sorry no DSlr yet this year). And some questions of which

one should I get the one with focus control or without? is it sharder to focus the one without control?

just like manual lens control? does polaroid still make this kind of film? I'm setting a small studio at

home and I think this will be a good item to add on my gear.

  14. Thanks Guys for the informative advice, and I think I will go coolscan for now and I know

that I might need some more bucks for this but hey if it's worth it why not. Btw about

Minolta I used to shoot with Maxxum 9 and it's an excellent camera to be honest, if it's not

because lack of rentals for this camera and lenses, I might keep mine. Just because my

needs growth and seems everywhere I go there's rarely place carry minolta so I changed

gear. Canon 1V first but later found my love with Nikon F5 (amazing camera!, 1Vhs not

even close IMHO). Hopefully sony will keep minolta range of lenses in their support so it

will be good for minolta users. I think their G lenses are in par with Nikon ED, I don't like

Canon "L" glass, somehow there's just something about Minolta G and NIKon ED that

caught my eyes and love the color. Thanks again guys and happy shooting!.

  15. Hi all,

I'm thinking to get a nice scanner and need some advice on which model should I get, I probably would

just get a used one as well and don't want spend more than $400 for this need? any particular model

from Nikon on this price range used? I heard minolta 5400 (based on kenrockwell) is the best 35mm

neg scanner out there? any Nikon user use this scanner or they stick with nikon coolscan? But I see their

used price still around $500 to $600. Btw I only shoot 35mm so I don't need a multiple film scanner. I

never used a neg scanner before so this would be my first one. I'm still loving use my F5 and would love

to do so 'till film is out of production :). Thanks for the info and help, have a nice evening!.
