I'm new to rangefinders and just purchased a Contax G2. Since day
one, I've been using Nikon SLR. So how close is my image going to be
compared to what I see in the veiwfinder? I purchased the camera
used without an owners manual so I have no refernce material yet.
Someone said that the veiwfinder corrects for this. Is it true? Oh,
it truly is a great camera.

You have to think in the long range goal.

I always felt that the glass was only as good as the end result. I think Zeiss sometimes might be a waste of money.

Does Carl Zeiss make the best photographic optics? How does Zeiss
compare to Nikon and Mamiya?

I've noticed that all ofthe stores in NYC have 50 used Nikons for every used G2 in stock. These must be excellent cameras.
-
I purchased my G2 based on reviews of other users. Then I got my hands on one and saw what a great street camera it was. I know Contax has been around a while, but I too was surprised about seeing Japan on the bottom. Is the only German influence on this camera the lens?

I was in Olden the other day. It looks like he's renovatingthe place. I always wondered why he wentthrough employees so fast. Well, I found out why. A fellow classmate was employed there for a short time. Said the job sucked big time. She couldn't handle the dust, the bordem and the low pay. But they own the building. So why would they want to make money selling camera's? I'd rather collectthe rent myself too.

I just saw some chromes from a Seagull. For $250, brand new, the chromes look fine.

Has anyone ever dealt with Photogizzmo on Christopher Street in NYC?
They deal primarily in used medium and large format camera's.

I've been offered a black Contax G2 with a 35-70mm lens along with
the TLA 200 flash. Everything is in new condition. The prevoius owner
was a physician who grew bored of it. The price is $1500 for this
combination. Is this a good deal?

I just developed some TMax 3200 E.I. 6400 with Xtol. I used it
undiluted according to the instructions on the developer package. In
my opinion, the negatives came out thin. The film was shot with a
Nikon F100. In the two years I've owned the camera, I have never ever
had a problem with exposure so I'm doubting the camera is at fault.
Can anyone give me some insite on this situation?

Time marches on and maybe B&H will be the Olden of tommorrow. But B&H does advance with the times. They advertise more digital equipment than ever now and have also renovated the store in favor of digital. All ofthe ads on the windows are now digital too.
Olden probably isn't loosing a penny either. From what I understand, Olden also owns the building too. So he's collecting megabucks in rent from all those stores downstairs.

The place really went down hill. Did it ever have a ground level store too? Or was it always on the second floor? I know someone who recently worked there. It was enough to scare this guy out ofthe camera business. Ever see the homeless people handing out outdated fliers in Herald Square for this place?

It's all Nikonian rhetroic. They want you to buy their product and their product alone.
-
I had the same thing happen. The problem? I was in spot metering. One other thing..........my flash starts to do weird things when the batteries are low.

Can I use the Nikon SU-4 TTL falsh slave with other brand flashes?
I'd like to purchase one and use it with my Sunpack 443AF.

What gets me about some of these color labs in NYC is the snippy attitude of some of the employees. Some of these guys act as if they are doing you a favor or give you a look that says "Who are you to waste my time?" Lets face it, if you're working behind the desk or in the dark, you're not exactly Bob Christ on location in Seville, Spain, are you?

I'm canning the idea of buying a Coolpix 5000. I just read about 20 reports on it and they all say the same thing about the camera. Turns out that some have a defect concerning the lens cap. Plus, the built in flash cannot be turned off if you use the hot shoe. Then their is the issue of shutter lag. Now I am not saying that it is not a good camera. But what I'm planning on doing is saving my cash and getting an SLR. I calculate it will take me another year to save the cash. And by then, hopefully all the reviews about the D100 will have remarks about the flaws ofthis new model. The 5000 is just not for me.

Will we ever see a Nikon F6?
-
Can I use this combo with a hot shoe adapter? I don't think this
camera has a PC.

After reading all of this, I guess the best thing to do is to shoot K64 when the amount of available light is high. K64 apparently isn't a film at all for long exposure. I'm going to be using it for the first time today to shoot some antique cars.

I just purchased this flash "used" from B&H. I put batteries in it and waited for the "ready" light to come on while it was hooked up to my RZ67. The only lights that worked are the "mode" indicators. Well, the damn thing has been sitting here on my desk for an hour so far. No "ready" light and no flash. I'm bringing it back.
IS Contax Owned By Zeiss?
