  1. Pierre - Excellent and funny - I like all versions regardless of colour or b&w. Very eye-catching work. Congratulations. Peter

    The cormorant

Rosario Great composition. For me, the photo is both serene and slightly comical - a good thing in a photo - the cormorants always clumsy and slightly embarrassed at being trapped in this position until they're ready for more flight/diving. Very nice work. Congratulations. Peter.

    Ebb and Flow

Dave - I think this is under-appreciated. It's hard to do this kind of thing as well as you've done it. All the elements flow and balance beautifully. It's a real eye-catcher. Congrats, Peter.

    hornet

Martin very impressive. Impressive gear, impressive technique, fabulous result. Congrats, Petr.
  15. Tony, Gianni - many thanks for the encouragement. Pierre and Chris - you're both exactly right - because of the back-light had to push up the ISO higher than I would have normally liked. I was on a steep slope, the light was fading fast, no time for a tripod, had to handhold, etc. It all made for an awkward POV. I appreciate your expert eyes and comments. Thank you. Greg - interesting idea. I played with it a little, but I'm not going to take it too far. The trunk has a distracting pattern of lines that draws my eye away from the colours and leaves. I didn't like that, so I'll let the shot stand as is. Appreciate the idea none-the-less. Thanks. Peter.
  16. Gianni - I posted this in 2001, but have always liked it. Many thanks for "rediscovering" it all these years later and taking time to comment. Best to you, Peter.

    Red Spring

Camilo, Great colour, just the right depth of field, and I really like the subtle hint at two buds in the background just at the edge of focus. Great composition. Compliments. Peter.
