  1. Chris,

Even for a non-cricketer the charm of the a game on the village green jumps out. I looked more closely and was really impressed by the technical details. You got this action shot just at the right split-second, with the ball midway to the bat, the bowler still recovering from his delivery and everyone else frozen in suspense. How many did you have to shoot before you got this timing so spot on? Either way. It's great.

    Congratulations.

    Peter.

    Sidsel -

    This is beautiful.

One thought: The colours throughout this photo are very muted - almost b&w or sepia. The exception is the shirt where the colours jump out. Did you consider muting the shirt colours to keep the focus on the child?

Regardless, it's a truly lovely portrait. Congratulations.

    Best wishes,

    Peter.

  2. A big thank-you to all who commented. Many of those who commented are photographers whose work I already follow - great to hear from you. Some of those who commented are new to me - I look forward to using this as an intro and reason to discover your portfolios.

A special word for Jeff - Jeff thanks for giving this one your vote. It's not a slam-dunk, at least not to me, but appreciate your vote.

    Best wishes to all.

    Peter.

    Su -

Nice one. As one of the previous posters said - I too like the transition from white behind the balconies to black.

    Congratulations.

    Peter.

It's hard to capture the power of waves in photos - you've succeeded for very well here. Tomfoolery is putting it mildly. Looks like they were lucky to get away unscathed.

    Congrats on the dramatic picture.

    Best wishes,

    Peter.

Lovely portrait of an amazing animal. Have you given any thought to darkening the background to that the tiger stands out more? Regardless, nice work. Bravo.

    Best wishes

    Peter.

  4. Vjacheslav -

Thanks for the comment. Interesting that you prefer the smaller format. I'd be interested to find out more about why. If you have the time take a look at an updated larger format at

In my opinion it's better than the version I first posted on PN. I'd be interested to get your view.

By the way, I like your tiger portrait. Excellent.

    Best regards,

    Peter.

  5. Vjacheslav -

This image grabbed me - hard to stop looking. I think it's because it breaks the usual rules in such a successful way. Normally the eye would be the best lit and clearest point of focus. Here it's the mouth. The eye is almost in shadow, but that's where I still want to look. Maybe my analysis is way off. Either way, I like it.

Sorry to hear about the 10x10 meter enclosure. That's worrying.

    Best regards,

    Peter.
