Didn't he see the made in Germany engraving on it?
I used one for many years and it had a superb lens. I agree on knob
getting knocked off the auto focus position. It happened to mine and it took me forever to figure out why my pictures were
mostly out of focus.

I have a mirror finish folding Rolleiflex lens cap. I was wondering how I can tell which type it fits. I have a Honeywell 3.5F and it locks into the
taking lens but is shorter than the lens on that camera. When unfolded it doesn't cover the viewing lens. (Or do I have that backwards? It's
been some time since I attached it.)
The cap is a little smaller than 3.5 inches including the tab on the bottom of the cap.
thanks

So they have a road rally based on a movie based on a road rally?

I have used Windows for years as well, also starting with 3.1. I didn't have any trouble switching to a Mac. Don't fight it. Go to
the Apple store and talk to an expert about your problems. Just play around.

I agree, I don't often listen to the program because it makes me too mad. But I find that it is a lot more balance than the
mainstream media's coverage of thing.
They actually get both sides of the story and let the people on both sides speak with out getting shouted down.
I was listening to a story about how army recruiters were strong arming teenagers into enlisting and had the army's head of
recruitment on. He had a bunch of no comments and kept saying that the recruitment program was fine but he was getting a
chance to speak.
I wonder if an anti-recruitment activist would have the same chance to speak on Fox "News" or CNN.

The point is that you can't tell who the terrorists are by skin color. They said the anthrax killer was Iraqi, then when the
American killed himself they said he did it.
Spending all our efforts worrying about one group of people with a grudge will let all the others be free to do what they will.

I was reading today about how the DHS (Department of Homeland Security) can confiscate electronic devices entering this
country for an indefinite amount of time for no stated reason and share the information with other agencies.
Enter this country or return from a trip abroad and the government can seize your laptop or digital camera.
They used to say the Terrorists hate us for our freedoms. I guess soon they won't have any reason to hate us.

"I might add to that this whole terrorist nonsense can easily be handled by closing off our northern and southern borders and
regulating who comes into the US. Every other country in the world does this, it's time for the US to do as well otherwise the
deaths on 9/11 will stand for nothing."
The 9/11 hijackers were here on student visas.

According to the New York Daily News:

WOR radio talk show host Michael Savage, who makes a good living being outrageous, found himself in the middle of a new
firestorm Monday after he branded most autistic children fakers who just need tougher parenting.
"In 99% of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out. That's what autism is. What do you mean they scream
and they're silent?" Savage said last week in remarks that lit up the Internet over the weekend.
"They don't have a father around to tell them, 'Don't act like a moron. You'll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz.'

Looks like he did say basically what I said.

Damon, thanks for posting that. I didn't even try to look for a Democracy Now transcript. I didn't think it would be up. The
Fusion Centers did sound pretty scary. I think even the right wingers would be against that with their talk of the posse
comitatus act. Or was that just in the 90s?

Individuals who carry on long conversations on pay or cellular telephones.

Individuals drawing pictures or taking notes in an area not normally of interest to a tourist or showing unusual interest in or
photographing security cameras, guard locations, or watching security reaction drills and procedures.

L.A.P.D.

It does look like it mostly concerned with photographing police, but then of course that is exactly what people do at
demonstrations.

I guess Autistic kids are just spoiled brats since that was said on a right wing program.

From what I gathered listening to the show it was photography itself that was suspicious activity. The show did deal with videotaping protests to
document overzealous police actions. But I think the L.A.P.D. guidelines were something totally separate.
Chad
-
I was listening to Democracy Now today and they were talking about video taping protests. One of the speakers said that after 9/11 the L.A.
police department gave guidelines of activities, criminal and not that the officers should take as precursors of terrorist activity. One of those
activities was photography and videotaping. The L.A.P.D. passed these guidelines on to other police departments around the country.
Even though photography is not illegal, police are told to consider photography a suspect endeavor.

"I believe that he used glass plates in the beginning, and then film when it became more commonly available. Which emulsions he used I
have no idea, but I'd bet that there are some Edward Weston scholars here who can provide that info."

I wish I had paid more attention when I was at the Center for Creative Photography here in Tucson last month. They had the negative from
the nautilus shell photo on display. As far as I can recall it was Kodak but which emulsion I have no idea. I'm sure someone could call or
write or go into the museum and find out.

Thanks, I aim to please.

Go to a "coffee shop" after you leave everything will seem special but when you develop your pictures you won't be able to
understand why the extreme close up of the broken bottle doesn't seem as earth shattering as you thought it would when you
took the picture. :)

The lens retention ring says: C.Z. Jena 75467 Otar 1 : 2 f = 58mm
<> the diamond is in red but I can't seem to apply a red color with out upsetting the
server.
This is all interesting information I am learning about a lens I've had for years. The
internet is great!
Chad

Practica, that's what I meant. Thanks for correcting me.
Chad

I have this lens and instead of Biotar it says Otar with a capital o. Also Carl Zeiss is abbreviated C.Z.
Does any of this mean anything or is it just normal production variances. The lens is a screw mount
so I guess that it is Exacta mount since it doesn't fit my Leica.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Chad

If you know what a Leica is then you probably know what ebay is. I don't know why you
didn't go there unless you were hoping someone would want to buy your camera.

I don't like Wal*Mart and about the only reason I go in there is to have my Kodachrome
processed. I mark the bag K-14 and have never had a problem with it being processed
incorrectly.
I did have a hard time getting my slides back last time. The kid couldn't quite grasp
what they were. He kept saying, "There's no prints in here." I told him they were slides
and he wondered if I had them made from prints and if so where were they. It took
some doing but I got my slides.

I was reading Michael Palin's Diary and he talks of living in London in the 70s when the
IRA was blowing up buildings on a regular basis. People went about their normal daily
lives and ate at restaurants even though they were targets.
I have also read some statistic that if every flight on a given day were to crash and kill all
passengers, it would still be less than the amount of people killed in cars on that day. I
think that was the statistic, it was the gist of it anyway.
What really can the terrorists do to incapacitate us? The way to fight terrorists is to not
be terrified.
Chad

Am I the only one who thinks that if we live in Terror, then the Terrorist have one? The
president is fond of saying that they hate us because of our freedoms, is losing our
freedoms going to make the terrorist go away?

400 speed is all I shoot in mine. 1/500th at f16 for bright sunlight so everything will be in
focus. But with 400 speed and turning off the flash you can get some great low light shots.
400 speed is very versatile, even in a Minilux.

HAMA Self Timer--Instructions?
in Accessories
Posted
Messing with mine it looks like you have to move the timer knob at least to the top corner of the timer. What would that be, 135
degrees? Between 135 and 180 from the resting position it works. Less than 135 degrees the plunger doesn't come out.
Hope this helps.
