Is this guy a giant, or is this auction fishy? <a href="http://cgi.

In the movie Mad Dog and Glory DeNiro's character, a crime scene photographer also uses a Leica. I beleive that Bobby him self uses a Leica.

Not far from the quarter is a bar called Tipitinas that has great music of the not jazz kind. There are plenty of good resturants around town with out having to pay Antoines prices. Of course it would help to know how old you are and if you want to go eat huge Po Boys at Cooter Browns with the college kids or would rather have a fancy sit down dinner.
In the Quarter is a great photo gallery, the name of which escapes me presently. It is worth going into if it is open.

It could still be a 1940s model. Perhaps when he was flying over Germany, he looked down and spotted a camera store. He then landed out front, went in and purchased the camera.
I think I remember my great uncle in Cologne telling about a crazy flyer who bought a camera from him during the war.:)

That was the Sterling. Of course it was a better car than the one that had Japanese styling and an English mechanicals:)

In the movie "Bram Stokers Dracula" some scenes were shot using a turn of the century movie camera. The colors were slighty washed out but it was a very nice effect. If 100 plus year old lens can reproduce color why not your spring chicken of a lens?

I think if it is black paint then it has to have a brass top. The heat of baking the paint would melt the zinc. All M-4s (the originals from before the M-5) have brass tops.

Thanks R Fred.

To you have a link to this morphing screen saver? I did a quick look on the Leica website and couldn't find it.

If you list Leica MP in ebay the real auction and this one are next to each other. One seller has many auctions under his belt and one has none. One seller has many pictures of the kit the other only has one. I wonder which one I would go with?

I think that there is a huge difference between not being a good typist and not knowing correct usage. Adding an extra o in lose is not like getting a fact wrong. The gist of the post came through your pedanticism notwithstanding

Next time I will make sure that I am sitting with both feet on the ground, that my elbows are off the desk and that my index fingers are on the f and j keys.
I will also meticulously proof-read each line before I hit the submit button. No more firing off a post at the drop of a hat for me.
Thanks for ruining my sense of spontaneity Mom, I mean Ray

I like how the user id of the bidder is kept private. Probably so no one can warn the bidder of the fact that this auction is most probably a fraud.

Perhaps your mirror is out of whack. I have used many Nikkor lenses wide open and havent' found sharpness lacking.

In this months Automobile magazine in the "On The Block" section they
tell about a 1 of 1000 Ford Mustang Cobra Indy Pace car that went up
on auction.
This car was bought new in 1994 for $26,845 put in storage for almost
10 years and sold at auction for $23,850! Not only did he loose three
thousand uninflated dollars but storage cost and sundry expenses as
well.
The ending sentance could be applied to cameras as well: Buy new cars
for pleasure, not as investments.

In clothing catalogs like J Crew and Lands End they sell distressed pants for thirty dollars a pair. These pants are frayed at the pockets and the hems, just like a pair of pants you could buy at a thrift store for three bucks.
<p>There must be a section of the population who want the look of wearing/owning something old but either don't want to go to thrift stores or pawn shops or don't want to wear/own something <I><B>used</I></B>.

American Cinematographer had an article about the lens and the candle lit scenes when the movie first came out. Perhaps your library would have copies of the magazine.

I need to take a scanning course or buy a better scanner. I did some tweaking in Photoshop to get the colors looking at least something like they did in the print. I came close but not very.

My dad is a banjo player. His favorite activity is to play his banjo and surf eBay, looking at and bidding on banjos.
That seems to be the one big difference between talking about musical instruments and cameras. One can play an instrument while talking about it online. That's hard to do with a camera, unless you want many pictures of your computer area (which I have).
