I like this photo a lot - mostly because of the composition. The branches on either side look like hands to me. Technically it seems like a great shot too. I like how the brown of the river contrasts with the snow. Good job!

Thanks Paul, I envisioned the branches as outstretched arms when I made this. And thank you Cheryln for stopping by too. Regards.

Nice picture. I like the symmetry. Take the same shot from the same location in the spring or summer and hang them together.

i think your photos show an amazingly subtle, powerful sense of aesthetics. i rarely feel manipulated, yet they are clear and vivid, and beautfully composed. they look effortless.

Very nicely done, I feel sheltered from all that cold snow by the balanced branches, from the shade... yes. Love the even tones of the virgin snow and the stillness of the water.

Beautiful and atmospheric composition. I like the way you have the two branches coming together like that. Did you just come across it or were you looking for something like this?

Very interesting composition, Walter! I like how you used the tree limbs to frame the shot ... and snow-on-trees shots always appeal to me. The only thing that isn't eye-catching is the brown in the water. Anyway to B&W that? Hmmmm....

Golarka Cohen?? Is that a combination of our worst nightmares on PN??? Anyway, someone who rates this 3/3 has a HUGE jealousy problem or needs glasses bigtime. I love the tones in this one, Walter, and the way you have composed it. I have to give you 7/7!! Nice detail and I just like looking at this one. Sorry to disagree with Lou Ann, but I LOVE the brown water - I think it goes very well with the white of the snow.

I feel almost drawn into the image by the branches. Very effective use of the fisheye lens which is not easy to use. Well done.

good choice to include the non-white patch in the middle, it breaks the continuity of the snowed landscape.

I missed this when first posted. Came to your site to see what the size of your uploaded files are because there doesn't seemt to be the compression artifacts that Roger gets on his.

Anyway, I stopped here to admire this beautiful composition. Aptly named and very lovely.

On the contrary Linda; my photographs suffer egregiously by the PhotoNet compression machine. In that we are all equal. The secret is not in the file size but in the pixel dimensions. I forget what they are but they are listed in the upload FAQ. If you exceed the recommendations you will get squished like a black hole.

Thanks for the kind words regarding this photograph. I made an 11x14 Lightjet print of this and submitted to a contest along with three other photographs of mine. The other two won 1st place ribbons in their respective categories but this one failed to impress. Regards.

This has always been one of my favorites too. It was an one of those heavy snowfalls that did not have much wind associated with it. The snow just fell and clung to everything that it could. A real "Winter Wonderland" for the city was the result.Regards.
