I happened upon these little water falls the other day. Comments,

suggestions, and ratings are invited.

Hi, I think that there's too much happening at the peripheries of the image. The rock on the left does nothing, nor do the treetops and sky above. I'd suggest a tighter crop on the falls themselves, with the bridge included, but not much else. That would make your subject stand out.

Sorry, don't agree with Vahe. I like the depth in this one. So often, photographers DO crop closely on waterfall shots and you don't see the area around it. I like to see the terrain sometimes, too.

The sunlight on the water and in the background foliage give a nice airy feel to the shot. The fallen leaves are interesting, maybe a step to the left to pull them into the foreground and give a stronger diagonal to the flow of the water. I like the wide shot... beautiful image!

Wow, what a place! Love the bridge in the distance, but, above all, I just like the whole autumn scene.

I grew up partly in Ohio, but I don't know where this is. I'll check it out.

You seem to like these streams Walt, I can see why too. Exposed very nicely. Usually I seem to lose either the sky (gets blown out too much) or the shadows are too dark. Not so here. The composition works for me just as is, with a fairly wide view. The tree in the upper left could be considered mildly distracting only because it sort of sticks itself in there just a bit. Still it works enough for me due to the interesting rock formations even with that tree. Here is another idea for a crop. I also toned down the highlights a slight amount.

I just returned from 10 days of shooting in areas similar to this at the Shenandoah National Park. So now I know why you like being in the woods and streams like this. I was actually barefoot for a while... Very nice work once again. Aloha!

It is tight enough to lose the diagonal tree on the left yet still preserves the "micro" fall on the extreme right. Thank you again.

And thank you Alex for you visit and kind comment! Regards.

Having just picked up some medium format gear with the intention of focusing on landscape work next year your galleries will serve as a constant reminder of what to strive for. You are one hell of an artist.

Dave, that is the best complement I have ever heard. I wish you the very best success with the MF gear. I think it is cool equipment. If I can ever help let me know. Regards.
