Very appealing, too, but I prefer the other shot. I love the snow in the trees and the contrasting color of the water. Can't decide on the people, but they aren't ruining the shot for me by any means.

I prefer them both but this more if that makes sense. Maybe more of that earthy, slushy water and the simplicity that does it. 7/7

I'm with Kim on this one. The previous shot gets the top spot but in this the filigree of the snowy branches is great. The people form a nice focus imo.

ack! whats with the people messing up the scene? Nice series, Walter. I'm going to have to go with LouAnn's comment on the other shot regarding the water color. prettier water would have added to a dreamy feeling while this adds a more realistic aspect.

It's actually worse than that Knicki...it's semi-frozen mud-slush. But I liked the color contrast with snow. Regards.

This is the shot I like the most of the series. I think has more depth, with clear foreground and background. Actually, it works pretty well in attracting my eye inside. The colour balance is pleasent, but my present monitor is not so great. I like the way the tree to the right frames that part of the shot and the way the overhanging branch connects with the background trees and effectively frames a picture-in-the picture of men, trees and bench. When it comes to the human figures, though, I feel uneasy. I wish they were not there, but I realise I would not have seen the bench without them... Maybe I would like them to be more positively being doing something... standing, walking in, walking out, sitting... as they are they are not static enough to "blend in" the statiticy of the picture, nor dynamic enough to contrast with it. I think the latter, actually, is my main (although little) problem with this shot...

Thank you Salvatore for your input on this. "More positvely...doing something", is a very good observation! I wish they were too, as it is they are just passing through. Regards.

I went back to this again... I was thinking that I am also a bit put off by the fact that there are two human figures. If there was only one would fit more in the peacful frame of mind of the scene. Or if the two figures were somehow closer, suggesting some link between them. As it is they appear unrelated and unrelated to the scene, somehow.

A possible solution would have been if one of the two was "more positively" dressed in brighter colours, but then it would have attracted the eye too much and we could have waved goodbye to the somwhat delighting texture of the snow on the middle trees...

sculptures: beautiful with that brown patch contrasting the white. The two people do not disturb me; their smallness is a reminder...of the greatness of nature.

Walter, This is one of, if not the, whitest whites seen in Photography. So often snow scenes have, either a magenta, or blue cast to them. That's not necessarily the priority of my comment as it's a beautiful place, and the lines run nicely.Terrific.
