Geez, this is a very beautiful photo. I really like the punch of purple in the foreground. One question though, is the sky added?

Walter, Ryan has sharper eyes than I. Looked real to me! I also agree that the purple accent is a plus. Anyhow, I tried a square crop from the bottom as I initally felt there was too much sky. My square crop, however, seems to have resulted in the loss of some of the feeling of airy openess of your original so I'll back off...............THIS time! :-) Always nice to view your latest. Hello Walter, I always admire your images. This is quite nice but I have to admit, I always feel a little let down when I know the sky was added. I completely agree with compositing different exposures of the same scene to correct tonal complexities with sunsets or sunrises. I actually thought that may be the case here at first, but also suspected an added sky. I utilize PS quite a bit to save images that need it, but I have yet to combine different images. I think the give away here may be that the trees on the left don't seem to marry with the sky as well as the trees on the right. Perhaps some burning and a color correction may do the trick. My true feeling is if nobody notices, then its okay if you yourself don't mind. Please don't let my yada yada discourage you from enjoying your craft. You are an exceptional photo artist IMO.

Nice composite. Execution is very well carried out. The light balance as well as the perspective of the clouds matches up well with the perspective of the horizon. Good work, Walter.

 

Mark, thank you for visit and comments! Yes, I know what you mean about being a little "let-down" when what you thought was a natural scene turns out to be a created one. I feel the same way when I discover that a photograph is actually a composited image. You will have to forgive me on this one this time; as I said above, I was just having some fun with this.
