Laura Weishaupt
This lone goose was struggling to swim upstream against the swift current in the ice laden Delaware River. It appeared unable to fly. Even though it was buffeted by the moving ice, the bird paddled with determination. If lacking its best defense, this goose will not last long.

JDMvW
We had one day (Sunday) up to 60 degrees F; but on both sides of it, well below freezing.
I went out to the Crab Orchard Wildlife Refuge, but little fauna, just ice and flora.

This shows how the local land is cropped to provide winter food for wildlife: most common denizens are deer and geese.
