Mark, thanks. I should have taken a second and switched my settings but I got so caught up in the moment. I was too concerned with trying to stay focused and keeping him in the frame. It all happened so quickly.

Nieces and nephew with the Easter baskets. I was playing with color. Generally, I like the vibrance of the spring colors, but this toned down composition works for me. Grain added because I'm on a grain kick. Still never 100% satisfied with it.

I was out looking to get some susnset shots earlier this week. It has been cold, cloudy, and wet this spring but the sun was supposed to come out on the 25th so I was thinking we might get some late afternoon clearing.

I set up looking west across a lake at a state park not too far away, and the symmetry of the clouds, the far shoreline, and the reflections drew my attention.

00Ydy3-352953584.jpg.757d40e2565d37b80c41ca9c8864e587.jpg

I love the overcast Yosemite shot (David), the lizards wrasslin' (Lupo), and those gorgeous tulips (Alexander), among many others. Mike Newman I really dig that screen effect.

This week is from four of us getting together last Saturday at Gloria Ferrer and splitting a nice bottle of their '99 sparkling wine. I am pretty happy, in general!

EOS 7D, 16mm, ISO 800, 1/60, f/4. One hand on the camera and one on the wine!

00YdzI-352969584.jpg.d86d307eac59c4f9fd497f889aad7669.jpg

Last Friday I was shooting a GBH and this gent stopped by to watch the goings on. It's a Buckeye butterfly - no particular relation to Ohio as it prefers the south to tropical habitats. It needs less DOF but I was really concentrating on the GBH.

Enjoying today's posts and concur with most that "complete satisfaction" with any photo remains elusive.
L

00Ye2Q-353023584.jpg.c6b9a4486c0fb85c41906b7d0f8e72a5.jpg

Here's a shot from a concert gig I did a couple of weeks back at an interesting venue: Ex'pression College for Digital Arts in Emeryville, California. They ask bands to come in and do studio recordings and live webcasts so their students can get practice. This band is Get Off The Stage featuring Sparky Grinstead.

I am posting this on the fly, lots to do lately but still wanted to be a part of our Canon Thursday post. So please pardon the watermark, only shot from this shoot I had ready to post, edited and resized already. Easter weekend my sister, her husband and my two nieces came to stay with us. Being that I am lucky to see them ONCE a year, I had to take them out for a photo shoot! Now that they are 10 and 13, they LOVE this! Pictured here is my 13 year old niece, Rachel!

Happy Thursday!

@ Dan Park -- The 20-35 2.8L is still an awesome lens. Mine is 18 years young from when I first bought it, and I use it often. Here is an image that I shot yesterday with that lens. Part of my environmental portraiture study. Subject is the owner of a local bird store.
