GerrySiegel
Sorry but the Nikon F with Photomic finder. You got to be kidding...I remember that one, each to his taste said the Australian farmer who french kissed an alligator...I am kidding, no offense intended. My best friend had several of them with motor drives that seemed to be welded on.
GerrySiegel
My final contribution to this nostalgic array, but I could not resist. Bob below was the ultimate early, well 1970's Nikon fan. Got all his gear at military exchanges in Japan. And scoffed at the upstart Canon at the time because it had a primitive motor drive and also profited from non professional FT series and Canonets vs pro acceptance. Before white lenses of course... Yes, Virginia, this was taken in Arlington Virginia at Bob's home and that is his wife behind him. He was a genius and gifted and shot everything he saw via chrome slides.

When he wasn't volunteering at Kennedy Center pursuing an interest in ballet and Mahler. Or engaging in local politics. A man for all seasons.R.I.P.

patrick j dempsey
Hard to pick, but I'm pretty sure it's one of these... all by Olympus:

Specifically... probably this one.... Olympus Pen FT, here seen hanging out with Pen 38mm f/1.8 and OM 40mm f/2:

If you are talking about current production cameras... sorry, no one has made a machine this beautiful in the 35+ years since this one went out of production.

Andy Collins
I'm with Johnny...the EOS 1v is a beautiful camera, with or without the PB-E2 booster. In fact, I think it's prettier without the booster. I also like the looks of the D300 and now that I think about it, I like the way my 30D looks without the cheap-feeling Canon vertical grip mounted on it. As far as older cameras, I've come to love the looks of my Minolta SRT-102 and I also like the looks of the Olympus 35-S 1.8, a classy camera.

matthew_newton
I'd have to agree with Luis. I am partial because I use them, but damn isn't the Olymupus OM-1/2/3/4 sexy. You just can't find a better looking camera then that.
profhlynnjones
Hi Harry and all,

For looks, I think it's hands down the Horizon S3 Pro. However, that is a swing lens film panorama camera, made in Russia, it is the first film camera I have bought in about 25 years other than antique sample cameras. The Topcon Super R was a very handsome looking camera also.

The Kodak Medalist II was not only a beautiful camera to look at but one of the finest cameras ever made. Both Medalists had the first "rare earth" lenses ever made, 5 element (heliar type), 100mm f 3.5, and had first class lens coating. 1946 to 1953, would cost you $200 now give or take a bit. Marty Forscher in NY used to convert these from 620 to 120, making them one heck of a lot more useful.

Perhaps the most beautiful camera ever made would have to include the Kodak Super Six 20, 2.25"x3.25" on 620 film, wide base rangefinder, impressive f 3.5 Kodak Anastigmat Special lens, meter coupled exposure from 1938 to 1944. If you can find one it will cost you well over $2,000. I sold one for $950 in 1971, in retrospect, I have know idea why.

Lynn

dan_b.4
Current: I don't own one but the design of the body of the Zeiss Ikon rangefinder is really cool.

All time: I'm gonna disagree ever-so-slightly with Mr. Dempsey and say the Olympus Pen F, although the FT would be a close second. I like the cleaner look of the self-timer-less F better than the FT with the self-timer. Although as self-timers go, the one on the FT (as well as on some Oly fixed-lens rangefinders) is quite distinctive in its own right.

flatulent1
Current cameras, I'd have to say the Bessa III, and Leica M7, M8 and R8; honorable mentions go to Nikon F6 and D700, and Canon 1V. Several P&S are eye-catching, including Canon's G10 and Powershot SD9xx series, and almost anything Lumix.

Recent cameras, and my personal favorites, include Nikon F4S, Contax RTS III and 645, Canon T90 and F1N, and the Nikon 35Ti; honorable mentions go to the Olympus XA, EOS 1N and Nikon F3.

Ancient cameras? A lot of them are really quite lovely, but I'm captivated by my Zeiss Nettar.

Simply cool? Yeah, the white Pentax stormtrooper is a killer. Also Sony DSC-R1. And the Super Ikonta, with all its parts intact.
