  1. In one of my old John Shaw (nature photographer) books he talked about calibrating his film cameras to give the exposure he wanted. He didn't expect his Nikon bodies to be carbon copies of each other, so if one required some compensation one way or another he'd set it and go to work. If it's just the D700 that is reading the light from the lens 1 stop off, adjust the compensation and enjoy shooting. I have a friend that had (maybe still has) a Tokina lens that was off by 1 stop on one of his Pentax bodies. Eric Sande
  2. Do you have a Nikon DSLR to try it on to see if it works properly? Eric Sande
  3. My younger brother used to prepare slide shows with music for friends & family. He had some kind of setup that would trigger two Kodak carousels to fade in & out every few seconds. I really enjoyed them. Eric Sande
  4. I'll second this recommendation - I picked up the non-VC version on local Craigslist for $140 and couldn't be happier with color and sharpness. Good close-focus distance as well. Eric Sande

    Nikon F5

I owned an F5 for a number of years; paid $1,000 for a used one in early 2004. Sold it awhile back and could only get $250 for it. I never really warmed up to it, having used an F100 since 2000.. I understand the curiosity of trying it out - that's how I came to own so many Nikon bodies, some of which I can barely give away right now! Eric Sande
  6. In your video, the film advance lever needs to be out in order to shoot. When the lever is all the way in it locks the shutter button to prevent accidental shots. Eric Sande
  7. I was waiting to hear what lenses were used in this situation. I sold my F4s awhile ago, but for such an old camera it really reached forward. I used mine with the 1st 75-300 AF-S G lens and it worked fine in P and S modes, but if I set the camera to A or M the F4s defaulted to P mode. Pretty cool. I wondered if your camera sensed a problem and defaulted to Program. "Clean the contacts" has been a bit of a default answer for many years, and I only had to do it once on any camera I've owned (F100 thumb pad was getting skittish and wiping the back & body contacts fixed it) - but maybe that'll help. 8. I have three 20-roll packs of Fuji Provia 100F film with an expiration date of 11/2009 for sale. I bought them from B&H and they have always been stored in a freezer. Price is $110 each including USPS shipping in the US only, please. Payment via PayPal. I have them on eBay priced with a higher Buy It Now to offset fees. I'd really prefer to sell here! Eric Sande
  9. Here are the card capacities approved for the D7000 from the owners manual:
  10. Great, Len - I sent you a private message with my email address for PayPal. Eric Sande
  11. It would fit you fine - I'm 6' 2" and wear 44 suit coats. The vest is big enough to be easily worn over other clothing in cool weather. The main front pockets measure 9" wide and 10.5" long. I don't really have any big gear but a 75-300mm lens is fully enclosed and a full-sized body would also fit.
  12. I never fulfilled my dream of becoming Bob Krist so up for sale is this L.L. Bean vest for $75.00. Price includes shipping in US only, please. Payment via PayPal. It's hardly ever been used and has always been in a clean, smoke-free home.
  13. Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 for Nikon in EX condition. Includes front & rear caps and hood. $250 includes USPS shipping in the US only, please. Payment via PayPal. Eric Sande
  14. Very rare Kirk custom L-bracket for Nikon F4s in EX condition. $100 includes USPS shipping in the US only, please. Payment via PayPal. Eric Sande
  15. I've been following a channel on YouTube called Project Farm for a few weeks now and he just posted a test of readily available rechargeable AA batteries. Nice thing about this guy's videos is that he doesn't waste any of your time! Anyway, here's the link - I bought a bunch of Sanyo Eneloop batteries (both AA and AAA) in 2010 and they still work OK though I never used the AAs much for photography. I had some overexposure issues using 8 Eneloops with one roll of slide film in a Nikon F5. The AAAs are still working great in blinky lights for cycling. Anyway, (spoiler alert) Harbor Freight came out on top in this guy's testing, though he didn't end up recommending them because Harbor Freight can be hit or miss on some products. If on-site reviews are believable, they are indeed a good choice. Eric Sande
  16. I haven't been able to post anything from my original Photo.net account started in 1997 for nearly 2 years now. Some time after the big change I always get this if I try to post anything. I can still log in to the account, just can't use it in any useful way. Eric Sande
  17. I'm a little bit surprised you were able to respond to your own original thread from 2004, raczoliver. I can log into my original photo.net account I started in 1997 but can't post anything from it. I had to create a new account when the site went through its big change awhile back. Eric Sande
  18. I'm on an old computer without any of my photos handy, but I've enjoyed being on my belly getting close to flowers or even trying to get a view from under a mushroom. Eric Sande
  19. Close focusing distance is very important when it comes to ultra-wide focal lengths, so a drawback of the 20-35mm is that its minimum focusing distance is 1.7 feet. Eleven- or twelve-inch close focusing has been common for many years now. Eric Sande
  20. I don't shoot as much as I used to but have taken to using 4GB cards in a D7000. When it/they get full, it's a reminder to backup and all fits perfectly on a DVD-R, which I still have a big stack of! Eric Sande

    D6?

Being that the Z-series picked up with 6 and 7 I figured the F- and D-series lineage of pro oversized bodes was done. Just my hunch. Eric Sande
  22. Wow, that's crazy. My old N70 has the standard spring release even though it wasn't a camera with a lot of accessories available. Eric Sande
