What software develops Foveon?
-
I still have and use my Pentax K50 but most of my shooting now is done with micro-four-thirds bodies and lens. I don't like large bodies and lens and newer Pentax ones are just too big for me. I get almost as good images from my Olympus/Panasonic cameras as I did from Pentax. If Pentax in the future releases a smaller body I certainly will look at it. I won't hold my breath though.

I used one of those cameras when I was fighting forest fires out west. I did not want to take my regular camera so bought a couple of those throw-a-way ones and was surprised at how well the images came out.

Changing computers?
g_richards replied to david_henderson's topic in The Digital Darkroom: Process, Technique & Printing
I not only got a new computer but also switched from my older Imac too. My decision was to go with an AMD powered PC for my photo processing. Most but not all of my Mac software I was able to download a PC version of it which helped a lot. I dd lose some specific Mac software so kept my older Mac for using them now and then. All and all I am pleased with my purchase. The hardest part for me was learning the differences between the two operating systems. -

I have no desire to go with a bigger body and lens again. Currently, my Panasonic G9 is as big as I want to go and at times it too seems bigger than I wish.

I too have done the same...it just seems Sigma is losing interest in the Foveon sensor which is unfortunate as I thought it always had potential as seen in the images posted here on this forum.

Olympus, S-OVF and newer models vs older ones
g_richards replied to Karim Ghantous's topic in Mirrorless Digital Cameras
My Panasonic G9 has a wonderful EVG, probably one of the best I have seen in a mirrorless camera. The EVF will lighten or darken somewhat depending on what you are shooting. However, it is so easy on the G9 to adjust it quickly. I have not found it to be an issue on my camera. -

Differences between the Olympus Pen e-pl9 &. e-pl10?
g_richards replied to iKokomo's topic in Olympus
I still have and use the EPL-7. It is great for taking with me on bicycle rides as it fits nicely into my bike pack. As for the new EP7 camera it has 20mp and other nice additions to it. Unfortunately, for the time being it won't be for sale in the U.S. I suspect later it will appear here too as did the E-PL10 which started out overseas as well. -
Look for an older Olympus EPL-7 or 8 as they can use the separate EVF. I use the EPL-7 and get very nice images from it. Most of the time I can shoot with only the LCD except in very bight light. You should be able to find one under your budget. The camera is small enough I take it with me on my bicycle rides.
