I'm a novice but there are two things that bother me. The subject matter is great, interesting and commands exploring (draws me in). However, I am distracted by not being able to see the center peak's top. It is just cut off. Also in regard to that peak, I have been told and thru my experience, agree that the primary subject is more interesting if not centered...but in the + of one of the rule of 3 lines crossing. I understand that the entire carving is the subject but I would like to see more cropping on the left and bottom. The peaks on the left are not nearly as interesting as the "shaven" texture on the right sided peak which I think has much more drama and would have even more emphasis with a bit of sky beyond it. Hope this is of some value to you.

This is fabulous!...the little, hill side town in soft contrast to the shine of the train, the same as the 2nd engine in back ground. The train platform juxtapose against the triple rows of windows moving to the top of the building and several other areas draw my eye away from the engine itself, which of course grabs your focus back again and then frees you to explore. I love it!

This grabbed me as I am a city lover. The green shade with the contrasted natural wood of tree is nice. I am bothered by the fade out color to a stark white sky, which for me does nothing to highlight the tree limbs and they have an important impact for me. I am wondering about cropping it lower. Maybe using only lower branch and maybe some luminescence for the glass. I am a newbe and far from qualified for a serious critique. At first my photos were as straight natural, un-enhanced. I am beginning to stretch out of the comfort of being a purist and this photo makes me want to grab it and play with. I love the subject and context but would like to see it tighter with more drama to emphasize the drama that is inherent with joining these objects. Wish you the best, Jane

Hello Diane, I love this! The subject matter is a favorite and hobby of mine. Is it from Boyton Cabyon in Az? I like the way you have the close subject and distance in sharp focus. I can imagine the stories it initiates in people's imaginations. It encompasses the true story of the Native American (for me) history. Do you have more of this genre' ?. I'll check your site. Wish you the best, Jane

This is a "had to share." The bird is a grackle. It is the main character in a Native American legend in which a beautifully bird flies to implore the Great Spirit to stop the snow that is killing so many animals on earth. He is given a stick of fire to fly back and melt the snow. It blackens his feathers, destroys his lovely, singing voice and MORE! The great spirit consoles him saying that whenever the sum shines on him he will shimmer with all the colors of the rainbow. Have you ever look at a grackle in bright sunlight? This fellow is a bit embellished to show off colors. On my profile under birds, there are 2 untouched - 1 is straight shot. Other is simply cropped.
