This is a "had to share." The bird is a grackle. It is the main character in

a Native American legend in which a beautifully bird flies to implore the

Great Spirit to stop the snow that is killing so many animals on earth. He

is given a stick of fire to fly back and melt the snow. It blackens his

feathers, destroys his lovely, singing voice and MORE! The great spirit

consoles him saying that whenever the sum shines on him he will

shimmer with all the colors of the rainbow. Have you ever look at a

grackle in bright sunlight?

This fellow is a bit embellished to show off colors. On my profile under

birds, there are 2 untouched - 1 is straight shot. Other is simply cropped.
