  1. Thanks Dennis and Glenn. Glenn: actually this is an HDR, which makes exposure a no-brainer. That most HDR looks awful is because IMHO it needs some postprocessing to make it look natural, which I think, in all modesty, this photo is. In retrospect I should have added a -4 exposure as well, -2 was not enough to prevent the blown-out part below the sun.
  2. I hope you still have your original photos, because the postprocessing on this -and quite a few others in this folder- is rather poor and very unnatural. Composition and detail are good though.

Very cool! But I'm having trouble making sense of the architecture: are these all 'pointy' buildings, or is it the effect of the stitching, or a mix?
  3. Steve, the vertical pixel size is a bit of a personal choice: on what screens do you want your photo to fit? The smallest resolution nowadays is 1024x768. Taking away the menus etc. that leaves you with only app. 600 vertical pixels. Personally I think most photonet viewers have (or should have) bigger screens: a 20" with 1680x1050 resolution gives 800 vertical pixels, which is what I choose as maximum.
  4. Lovely winter scene. Good exposure & detail & composition. I would have preferred a bigger version though, to enjoy it even more. I think that in landscape photography size does matter. Must have been great being there.

    BEAUTY

A beauty indeed. But the background & border are way too busy and don't enhance the mood. If that is -what I suspect- PS work I would redo that.

Just as I suspected: the color version is much better. You might consider cropping a bit on the bottom and left to get more focus on the truck and make the composition a bit more interesting.

I would like to see the original color version (I presume this is a conversion). As it is, the dynamic range is rather limited - it's missing dark tones. These abandoned cars often have nice textures of rusty parts, but that doesn't come across in this photo.
