Controversial opinion here I know, but I say this because so many people know of Ansel, but what about the other [arguably better] photographers? I for one think Edward Weston is a great photographer, but one that gets very often overlooked. Lee Jeffries in the same vein has a very unique set of images, though I'd understand if not many knew about him.
Why are we stuck on the same artists and photographers is what I'm getting at? Is the new too difficult to comprehend [no matter how good the new may be], so we keep going back to the old?
Take it as you will, I mean no disrespect

The current value of used Leica M9's
yockenwaithe replied to Karim Ghantous's topic in Leica and Rangefinders

It's got the red dot of course it's expensive, same for Hassies; they're both cult camera brands
-

Pentax K1000 aperture ring stuck
yockenwaithe replied to beatrice_brown1's topic in Classic Manual Film Cameras

Yeah, it's probably the lubricant, I'd just get a new lens unless you want to take it apart yourself. What type of lens is it [it usually says right at the front, mm and aperture {something like 50mm f 1.4 or 35mm f 2.4}]?
-
Pentax K1000 aperture ring stuck
yockenwaithe replied to beatrice_brown1's topic in Classic Manual Film Cameras

Probably the lubricant dried up on the ring, if you want to fix the lens you'll have to get it sent out, depending on cost you may just want to buy a new one. The lenses use the Pentax K mount and taking them off doesn't do much unless you want to clean the back elements of the lens [which you should exercise extreme caution when doing]
Also make sure you look at the foam above the mirror, it tends to gum up; and the rubber on the shutter, which has a tendency to crack if it's super old.
ALSO make sure the light meter is actually correct, and that the needle moves to the far edges [i've seen a few where the meter just chills around the middle no matter how dark or bright of light it's getting].
-
Design/Photography Release for Portfolio?
yockenwaithe replied to elizabeth_m2's topic in Business of Photography

Here is the release I use for nudes [link], a lot of others are available online for free or small fees though you'll want to make sure they're legally binding wherever you are!
-

That's awesome- I thought that the section was mostly a ghost town. Not trying to pooh pooh anyone for not using it [i don't because I don't feel like I'm qualified enough to give much advice] as I'm sure everyone has their reasons. I will see if I can leave some feedback that's beyond basic superficiality, as it does seem hypocritical of me to ask why no one uses it while not using it myself.
Though it seems I may have come to this site a bit late- It's probably slowly dying because not as many new, young photographers or wannabes [regularly] come here, they're too attracted to their Instagram and other apps I guess

Alternative to Fujifilm Instant mini?
yockenwaithe replied to mette_pedersen's topic in Extreme, Retro, Instant and More

The RB67 Polaroid back uses the recently discontinued Fujifilm stuff [FP-100c], so it's still available so long as you're willing to pay ~$35 for 10 exposures- unless you want to pay a lot more for the older black and white film [FP-3000b] or the original Polaroid film
-
