  1. guys do any of you use older canon dslr cameras for whatever reasons im referring to cameras around the early 2000s with 6, 8 or 10 mp
  2. this is the other one that came as a pair the front face was totally corroded. Glass was perfect after a service took this one totally apart too. lucky for me i has 2 spare bay 1 filter holders from the scrap pile they didnt fit the lenses of course so with a bit of dremmel use that solved that. The film chamber was spotless in this one and i like the brassed front on this one and the distressed look of both of them hope you like it was great fun fixing them up
  3. this is one of a pair i got on e bay for i think £45 as far as i remember. Cleaned it up and serviced the whole lot took it all apart was a bit of fun this one was a bit dirty in the film chamber and had the faded remains of a departmental number of some sort on it the seller didnt know where it had came from ex government probably im just guessing i bought them as restoration projects glass is perfect too hop you like it
  4. Guys Im sure you are all aware how the focusing knobs break off these minolta tlr cameras I took it apart and made a new steel bracket from 16 guage mild steel and shortened the original alloy lever and drilled it and tapped it to m2mm to bolt the new bracket to. I also put a nut on the back too to lock the bolt which had to be filed down to clear a screw in the body underneath it and also put superglue into the joint. The new bracket had to fit up tight against the original collar so it would not cause the bolt to rotate and loosen and keep it tight in single shear You will notice it had to be bent to fit in the same space as the original and i glued some plastic sheet on the end to form a knob. Ive had this camera for several years and ive never used it . The broken focusing bracket was sharp and very difficult to use and very stiff and put me off using it. Its great to have it finally fixed focusing so easily now and ill use it The helicoid was oiled along with the sticky wind on mechanism shutter was serviced too i checked e bay and i was surprised how much one of these cost with the original focusing knob intact I think my fix is definitely stronger than the original I think of this camera as totally usable now instead of just sitting on the shelf
  5. o dear whats happened to the photos can a moderator fix them please
  6. Guys i got this for £8 inc post no one wanted it poor thing... .a good clean up project i thought The paint was worn off the the top plate so i polished the brass to a shine and gave the camera a good clean it was spotless in the film chamber and gave the shutter some exercise I had a spare helios lens and case and a nice strap is on the way I filed off the strap lug flat on the left and taped and screwed in an m3 screw to close the hole to the film cassette which is hidden behind the case the only thing it doesnt have is the clear plastic window over the light meter display i dont think ill take it apart to fix that Im very happy with the way it turned out a simple project saving another one O and by the way the meter works but how accurate it is ill find out in the future
  7. it came with the white letter 28-80mm f3.5-4,5 macro lens its nearly as heavy as my canon 60d lens is very solid too i think ill be using it alot has a great chunky grip its a good solid camera and everything works im very impressed with it and glad i bought it cost me £20 including post what do the rest of you think about this camera a nice surprise indeed regards andrew just thought should this be in the modern film slr section

  13. theres one on e bay that got my attention being sold in the UK the thing is it has no markings on it that military cameras should have. Did all the black versions get used by the military in WW2 or is it a civilian version All help welcome regards Andrew
  14. i like the look of it id like to see the photos too
  15. the reason i joined this site a few years ago when i got back into photography was because every time i reviewed some bit of kit or other this site always came up in the google searches for practically everything i ever looked into so i joined ................................. regards Andrew
  16. Guys i did this restoration 3 years ago in October and November 2015 i should have posted them then sorry about the delay and the dodgy back grounds from that time. Ive just done a list of my restorations but most havnt got the finished restoration photos yet This was just a clean up and repainting job and usual shutter and lens service Just a few months ago before Christmas 2018 i got a case for this camera on ebay The secret is just to look for cases regularly and something will pop up for some camera you have. The paint is car engine cylinder head paint it dries to a very uniform satin finish and is white spirit based I found this camera in a junk shop in Belfast after a friend tiped me off about it and bought it for i think £15, the poor thing looked so sad but its another thats been saved and its a lot happier now all comments welcome I think ill polish the leatherette i think it would look better OOps...just checked it and its polished already....dont remember doing that regards Andrew
  17. finished this in may 2016 and it was an easy job. Camera cost about £70 as far as i remember The original bellows were falling apart and totally not light proof and the fabric was actually partially missing and beyond repair on the inside so i posted the bellows to Custom Bellows in England and they made me up a set for £60 .I didnt mind that they only made black bellows I bought some camera repair vinyl and redid the back door had to buy a new focusing screen and i already had the shutter lens which is a rim set shutter lens rather than a dial set which it should have and i have a vintage 120 roll film back that fits it perfectly I also put a new leather strap on the top too its not a totally perfect restoration to original but im happy with it I wanted a camera i wouldnt be afraid to take out and use i may get a dial set lens for it sometime. The brass was polished up with car paint cutting compound Ill be keeping this one an original one of these cameras in working order sold a couple of months ago for £650 on e bay all comments welcome Regards Andrew
  18. heres a scan of an 8x10 print taken with a tominon 135mm f4.5 on an mp4 shutter in a 9x12cm plate camera with a vintage 6x9 120 roll film adapter hope you all like it regards Andrew
  19. guys just had to get one of these its realy small. Same problems as m3 version seized helicoid sticky shutter etc it didnt come with a case but i had a spare paxette case as it fitted perfectly width wise but not so on the depth which i spaced out using artists card making this tiny camera a lot easier to grip I like this one a lit like a tiny leica lookalike another one rescued was easier to do than the m3
  20. guys got this one in december 18 just because i liked the look of it. The main problem was the seized helicoid it took days to free up leaving it on a radiator putting it in boiling water using wd 4 and vice grips but it finally screwed apart. was a bit of a nightmare. The slow speeds spring needed retensioning a little bend sorted it. I gave it a good service cleaned the lenses a tessar type and repainted the badge as best as i could and of course checked the range finder Alls working now but id never do another m3.. hop you like the pictures
  21. found it LR44 it is................................
  22. guys what battery do i need for a zenith 15m ive looked on the internet and im not sure as the 15m is based on the 12 would it be the same vx625 1.35 volt originally used in the 12 12s and ttl ill need a mercury free wein cell replacement regards andrew
  23. guys thanks for all your comment it ended up that the light meter was faulty so i returned it and got a refund
  24. guys i bought a mamiya DSX 1000 slr recently and its due to arrive in the next few days it has the mamiya sekor 55mm f1.s x lens on it. Is it a radioactive lens gdf2009 on a youtube link from camerpedia shows it gives a reading of 6.03uSv/h , compared to 42.7 uSv/h from an Ashi SMC Takumar 55mm f1.8 for comparison. But an administrator called vintageslrs on The Camera Colector Website tested states the sekor has normal levels. What do u think , is 6.03 uSv/h anything to worry about if it is indeed radioactive. regards Andrew
