Triplet lenses correct me if im wrong have 2 separate elements in the front and one in the rear and thats what google shows I have a Ihagee Triplex Anastigmat f1.45 10.5cm shutter lens and it has 2 elements in the rear and one in the front the front single lens is in its proper engraved brass ring so they haven't been mixed up is this an oddity of some sort it produces sharp images just like any other lens of this age that i have. When i was cleaning the lenses i noticed that the rear lens in the rear couplet came out easily so i put in back in the wrong way round so after i put it in a lens board i had a look at the image on my busche pressman and to my great surprise it behaves just like a lens baby made for APSC digital cameras that i have and the nicest effect is at f16 I think ill leave it like this and just use it as an effects lens as ive quite a few 10.5 cm shutter lenses its just that ive never come across one with 2 elements in the rear before all comments welcome regards Andrew

kmac thanks for your reply i have 2 of these barrel tominion 105 f4.5 lens that screw into the front of the mp-4 shutter im going to test the other one i have to see what the far edges on 6x9 look like Dan was saying there were variations in quality control i like your photo its definitely sharp across the frame i hope my other one is like this if it is ill be using it on 6x9 the one thats soft on the far edges i was planning on using it on 6x6 negatives as its sharp across a 6x6 frame so ill be keeping it its interesting testing lenses like this it makes great projects to do thanks again Andrew

Dan yes they were shot at distance i just kept testing them till i found some way of using them in a way i liked either on digital of film it was an interesting project at the time and i use them when i feel the need to knowing what they can do ive just finished a 6x10.5 zone focus camera with an mp4 shutter and 135mm tominion on it with one of the helicoids from the internet shop and i cant wait to use it i know from my tests it will be good ive build a few zone focus cameras with various lenses i must put some photos on this site i like using them and i seem to get good shots with them regards Andrew

Thanks Dan for taking the time for your post I used both of then in one of my Busche Pressman model C cameras at f8-16 yes ill just go ahead and use the no 0 version as you say it seems to be just like any other 105mm shutter lens and is very sharp ive used the tominion MP-4lenses alot ill share with you my results as follows 35mm f4.5 - i have this lens in a helicoid and use it on an APSC digital mirrorless cameras ,it gives results similar to the american lens baby lens i have i like it alot 50mm f4.5 - ive used it on APSC and Full frame and gives excellent results on digital and on film it gives sharp across the frame on 6x6 with nice artistic vignetteing but i like the look on a large print and i also like the 6x9 versions too with heavier vignetting 75mm f4.5 - this lens is rubbish on digital it produces a center spot of low contrast in most of the shots on APSC and Full frame and has weird patches of sharpnes however on a view camera its a different story on 6x9 or 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 negatives it is sharp in the center and noticeably swirly outer edges if you crop to 6x6 the swirly effect is still there i like the effect .it sort of looks like an old world look or as a friend of mine said it looks like what most people would think a picture from an old camera should look like its an effect i like 105mm f4.5 - on digital is sharp across the frame but on 6x9 or 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 negs its softish on the far edges and on 6x6 is sharp across the whole frame has nice contrast 135mm f4.5 - on digital it gives sharp colourfull images and what i can only describe as similar to what is described as the leica glow that ive heard about on the internet on back lit subjects which looks good to me , On film this works great on 5x4 negatives and on 6x9 or 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 i have 4 of these lenses but have only used 2 of them so far on various cameras including a Mamiya RB 67 Anyway Dan i hope you find this usefull and thanks again for your reply i hope my reply wasnt too long winded if you have any questions just ask me i have an adapter to fit enlarger lenses to the MP-4 which i havnt got round to using yet its a rafcamera adapter m39x1f to m40xo.75m i glued a brass Lancaster lens in one of them and the other one is for the enlarger lenses regards Andrew

I have a barrel version in a polaroid mp-4 no 1 size shutter with max shutter speed of 125th second from a copy camera and i have another version that has 2 groups of elements with the shutter and iris in between the 2 lens groups in a copal no 0 shutter with max shutter speed of 500th second can any one tell me the difference between these 2 lenses. Everything on the net seems to refer to the no 1 shutter lens version. i have used both on the same 6x9 cm view camera and can say that the barrel lens version in the no1 shutter has slight softness on the far edges of an 8x10 print while the no 0 version is totally sharp across the whole frame and and the no 0 version will also illuminate a 5x4 negative but ive never used it on 5x4. Both i assume have a different optical formula from the results i got. Id really like to know what the no 0 shutter version was used for , it just looks to me like a standard sort of no 0 shutter lens for 6x9 negatives like the mamiya press camera lenses i just dont know has anyone any thoughts regards Andrew

this cost me about £40 to buy off uk e bay it was basically just a wooden box , i bought it just to restore and up grade. and of course to use eventually It can now take lenses from my collection of lenses i use on all my view cameras and now has a 6x9 roll film back but i can use a 6x11 cm back i made a few years ago that fits the adapter that the 6x9 cm back uses i just need to rember to use a lens that covers 6x11 cm I just leave the film back in the adapter and just slide the whole thing out and the new perspex focusing screen just hinges up into its original place i bought the front standard from a seller in europe and modified it to fit it has good rise and fall ans slides sideways too and fits inside the camera when closed up i already had the bellows i hope you like it and ill use it soon regards Andrew

Chuck id put small spots of glue on the loose ones do a few at a time and take it from there on the folding the secret is just to take your time

i just worked them a few at a time with my fingers and closed the front a bit at a time to help them along i was also able to press some of the folds together from the outside and also the inside a few at a time and eventually they all fell into place its easy to do but it takes time

thanks for the reply i was thinking of buying new bellows but i just wanted to see if i could fix the originals but you never know i may buy new ones in the future

This was an easy one lens is a typical triplet 10.5cm Ludwig Dresden Victar Theres not many scrapy cameras on the net any more you just have to take what you can get as i like restoration projects i just removed the rust ,put on new leatherette painted the damaged chrome black, refolded the bellows cleaned the lens and reset infinity the shutter worked perfectly and didn't need servicing its a very easy camera to use with the body shutter release and pop up optical viewfinder hope you like it

Thanks for the interest and comments Yes it should be about 65mm on a 35mm full frame equivalent ill be focusing it with the ground glass . It surprised me how sharp it looks across the frame on the Lancaster viewing screen . The glass element looks like a single element lens 30mm in diameter its absolutely spotless no bubbles in the glass or scratches. it just needed a clean f10 marked on the lens is actually f12.5. f30 marked on the lens is f30 . I have new bellows and adapters on the way and i fitted a 1/4 inch tripod mount on it tonight I think it should give good results on 6x9cm and ill test it on my a7 too just to see

I just bought one of these cameras in pretty good condition. Do any of you know what the actual focal length of this quarter plate lancaster lens is it looks like 120mm or nearly 4 3/4inches from the aperture markings. and more importantly have any of you ever used this lens on a 6x9cm film camera. There dont seem to be any sample photos on flickr taken by the camera. Ive ordered a couple of adapters so i can fit the lens on some modified mp4 shuttered plate cameras with roll film backs i have and also on to my sony a7 but to be honest its the film usage im more interested in. The lens is a single element and the image looks sharp across the viewing screen and are expensive to buy separately so i thought why not use it

Yes John ive completed the camera i couldn't get any more of the photos to load up . Kmac the shutter fitted perfectly in the camera as the threaded part of both shutters are the same standard size and i set the infinity focus on the zeiss shutter lens as normal after installing the shutter lens i had to lengthen the zeiss shutter arm to match up to the kodak camera Converting the camera body to 120 roll film was easy as kodak basically just cast in aluminum blocks in the film chambers to stop you putting in 120 film spools so all you have to do is remove the blocks with a dremel rotary tool and put a bigger tab to fit in the 120 film spools in the wind on axle

had a spare zeiss shutter lens in my spares box with a novar lens so i thought id upgrade the kodak junior 2 which was modified to take 120 film a few years ago i also found a tight fitting kodak case that i installed a moveable rear red window cover ive also have an original kodak tourist 2 i persuaded an artist to part with it instead of cutting it up to make a sculpture out of................ guys i took the stop down pin out as the mechanism was broken below it it looked like someone had tried to fix it before i got it as there were parts missing however i managed to connect the aperture ring to the aperture control inside the lens using a long spring the lens now changes aperture using the standard ring but is now a non A m42 lens i even got all 4 elements out and washed off a haze on the inside of some of them leaving the coating undamaged its a lot clearer now i hope this explanation helps thanks for all your replies im thinking of using it next week on my 5d mk2

ive got a T.M. 200mm f3.5 m42 mount lens made in Korea that i fixed and cleaned it has 4 elements in it and theres nothing on the internet about it im guessing its a cheap lens have any of you ever heard of it i was given the lens many years ago

was given a kodak junior last week just needed a wipe , when i opened it up the front and rear was spotless Inside the shutter works and glass is clean ill modify it to take 120 film as its easy to do and ive done it before on one i also reshuttered with a spare zeiss novar shutterlens i had but this one ill keep the original kodak shutter and lens A few days later a fellow classic car enthusiast gave me a praktica PM3 with a boxed up 50mm disassembled zeiss tessar lens the bits were all there and nice and clean. The camera however was in a bad state stored outside of the box on a shelf in one of his garages for years it was filthy all over including the mirror and jammed solid i gave it a good clean and wiggled the shutter speed dial and released the shutter it looks like new Whats a PM3 i thought its a rebadged super TL1000 said google looks good with my other prakticas

got a broken one cheap off e bay i thought id see what was wrong with it for a bit of fun it had 3 shutter speeds plus bulb max aperture of f 6.3 and an 80mm lens well..........turns out the epsilon shutter was beyond me as it needed a complete new part made to replace a broken one i suppose i could have tried to make the part but i thought it wouldnt be worth the time....this time anyway So i found a nice spare shutter lens in my spares box i thought i would put it in the camera a 75mm voigtlander vaskar f4.5 in a pronto shutter with a nice blue coating It fitted it and i was easily able to calibrate the 75mm lens to infinity i dont know where the spare 5 mm went lol lol and the shutter release on the lens matched the cameras release mechanism with a little bend and it closes perfectly so now i have 4 speeds plus b and 2 extra stops i now really want to use the camera i suppose thats one way to want to use a folder and what should i call it
