1.
guys
bought this for not a lot it was in a bad state so I bought it to restore
I suppose the sensible thing to have done would have been to use the shutter lens on my busche pressman
and scrap the body but I wasn't going to do that
I have a few vintage 120 roll film backs I can use with it
ill use it soon just to see what the heliar lens is like
they are supposed to be good
it wasn't hard to restore I have a system I go thru when restoring cameras so its quite easy
the shutter and lens have been cleaned and serviced
I really like doing them up like this in the winter months
I also modify them too but that's another story
what do you think of it
is the heliar lens as good as the net says
regardsAndrew

 2.
its not as big and heavy as I thought it would be
it has the 90mm sekor lens
I was shocked to see how new it looks
I only had to replace the light seals with some 1.5mm sheet closed cell foam which was easy
think ill take it out for a run and frighten a few people
ive a chimney pd meter and a vivitar x2 converter on the way
as im used to a meter and a teleconverter on my bronicia
I must admit I like the rb a lot its very easy to operate I cant wait to get my first film thru it
I cant see any problems using it outside as ive a 5x4
whats you experiences with this camera all good or some bad
Ive now no excuse not to take some great photos .....its up to me to point it in the right things
regards Andrew

 3.
guys
thanks for your replies
I just bought a chimney finder with pd metering instead as im used to using my bronicia ec-tl with its waist finder its so convienient with its built in meter when using filters I thought id need one for my rb
im looking forward to using it
thanks again
Andrew

 4.
Guys
is this worth getting
I cant find much on the net, no one has actually any complaints about it though.
Is it accurate enough to use with black and white film
can it be used easily while wearing glasses
regards Andrew

 6.
Hi all
is the standard 14-42 mm kit lens that comes with an P-EL1 a mk1 version only
and the mk2 and mk2r came out on the E-PL2
its just that all the E-PL1 Cameras on e bay all seem to have a mk1 lens on them
does the mk1 have a 40.5mm filter thread and
the mk2 and 2r have a 37mm filter thread
ive been looking for an E-PL1 with a mk2 lens on e bay and I think it wouldn't exist with a mk2 as standard
regards Andrew

 7.
U.S. 101st Airborne Reenactors Group Northern Ireland
Lumix G1 with unbranded 25mm cctv c mount lenses
I took this lens specifically to take photos of the Group
I like the look this lens produces and it gives what I perceive to be an old look
all I did post process was convert it to black and white
I took a few others which came out nice in both colour and black and white conversions
Hope you like it
regards Andrew

 9.
hi all
these are my first photos ive posted here on photos.net
I hope ive got the sizes right
heres a shot taken on my G1 with a Fujian 25mm cctv lens ive included black and white too
my editing software is the standard program you get with an eos
the close up shots are taken on the G1 ex opt zoom which supports the zoom in focus function while the others are standard 25mm view I have quite a few cctv lenses if you havnt got any id recommend them
I did this to see what effect id get on the ex opt zoom setting which I think I like
these are the first outdoor shots ive taken with it
it tends to tone down the full effect of the 25mm Fujian which I like too
ive put this post up as a test to see if I can get it right posting photos
all comments welcome on the photos they are taken nearin an old Cemetry near Portmore Lough in Northern Ireland
which is a small lough next to the biggest fresh water lake in the U.K. Lough Neagh
regards Andrew

Andrew

 10.
Cory
thanks for the link to all the filters they are interesting an a good idea
Andrew

 11.
just thought of this ....how about holga lenses
I was planning on getting a set for my eos and one for my G1
they are even on my watch list
perhaps they are the answer ,I like the idea of scratching and sanding clear filters I have a few old ones I could use and the stocking idea id forgot about
I have a cheap helios m44-4 and its as sharp as my Olympus om 50mm......honest
some how I think the closest lens wise would be a holga I could sand the edge of one too I suppose
ill wait and see what they are like first as standard and 2nd drilled out to f8
if anyone has other ideas id like to hear them
regards Andrew

 12.
I need it for my g1 and I want to use it on my canon 550d eos too so it cant be a c mount lens as I need infinity
ive researched the following lens
carl zeiss jena 29mm f2.8
pentagon electric 29mm f2.8 could be the same as the above
prakticar 24mm f2.8
that's as far as ive got with m42 thread mount lenses tonight on the net they are all sharp in the middle and soft around the edges
but from sample photos ive seen are not soft enough for what im after , im after sort of the same effect my 25mm Fujian gives on my g1 at normal length or on the EZ OPT ZOOM setting or x2 optical zoom in a normal landscape shot to get a realy old vintage shot
im after sharp in the center and realey fuzzy around the edges so the effect can be clearly be seen
in a focal length of between say about 30-60mm
can any of you help me out it seems no one makes a lens this bad
perhaps such a lens doesn't exist
regards Andrew

 13.
hi all
ive read that the mk2 and same lens mk2r are better optically than the mk1
is there realy much difference opticaly between them for street and landscape and portraits
would you avoid buying a p-el1 camera with the mk1 lens or are they close enough to make no practical difference
is it true the mk1 inner tube wobbles on the mk1 when autofocusing
ill be using it a lot with legacy and cctv lenses but I still want to have an Olympus lens
I realy want to get a p-el1
im not realy concerned if its an obsolete cameras as previously described my g1 could be described as obsolete and I think its great and so are all my film cameras I suppose and they are great too and I intend to get a nex 5n soon as I couldn't decide between the 2 so I thought id take the easy route and get both

what are your thoughts on the Olympus lens differences ....optically that is
I don't care about focus speed much on af
regards Andrew

 14.
hi all
first off thanks to all you lot who answered my last helios m44 58mm lens post
the thing is I got a realy nice m44-4 version a couple of weeks ago
I must tell you I havnt used it yet on my g1 as im waiting on the adapter which is what I realy only wanted it for but I discovered I had an m42 to eos adapter on a set of macro bellows I use for 120 folder shutter lenses on my eos so I tried the helios on my eos that's got a 1.6 crop factor and it is excellent
it is great to operate its really well made and the images are sharp ..well that's what they look like to me right across the frame on my moniter
im realy looking forward to putting it on my G1 but heres the thing
I was going to buy some more of them as many of you have done a very early one and a 7 now im thinking it may be a waste of time
as the 4 is so good
what would you do, would there be enough of a difference between them to have all 3
would the earliest versions give a more early type lens look and would the 7 be sharper than the 4 I have
would they all look similar on my moniter but different on a 12 x 16 print
its not the cost im worried about more so lens duplication in my bag
what do you think
regards Andrew
