  1. Thanks! The film arrived few days ago from fotoimpex - it's really good! I recommend them although it took exactly 8 weeks - from 30 of August to 25 of October. But is developed great (obviously machine), clean and shipped perfectly cut in transparent sleeve.
  2. Using camera and adapter like the Nikon ES-1 or the new ES-2 gives much better results than scanning - I use this method for over 6-7 years now, I have plenty of test with Nikon 810/850 + Nikkor 60mm AF-S + BR-5 + ES-1 https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10160407794574009&set=pb.536954008.-2207520000&type=3 I use direct sunlight as light source, it's best for colour rendition and brightness Also recommend the HDR function That's of course for 35mm slides, for others you can use other sets Try it, you won't regret
  3. First I want to say that silbersalz35 are great! I tested their service in 2021 - I wanted to try the bleach by pass option. They offer amazing quality and service, probably their scans are the cleanest I ever have seen. The presets they are adding are... I don't know, I didn't like it, but as long as they are giving the raw files too, it's what you prefer. I highly recommend them, but a bit expensive for me outside Germany (the shipping costs are twice the other ones) I also asked myself why they recommend overexposing, my explanation is that the movie films are extremely high dynamic ones, much more than the photo films, and I guess in a matter of one stop you won't even notice any difference. It also depends a lot how it is developed, it's possible that they have optimised the lab that way.
  4. standard machine processing - I guess you mean lab, right? manual I call with jobo wash-tube-bath, which is mainly made by hand - winding the film in the dose and changing chemicals, warming etc... I am in Bulgaria
  5. As the last manual development in my country stopped (machines was stopped back in 2008) I wonder if there are places in EU I could send my films by dhl/post, pay online and have them processed and send back? I found out fotoimpex in Berlin online, send them one film for a try and I am waiting for second month already... twice they answered me they have problems and next week most probably will be processed... one week after the second reply already. I don't know if they are sending the films elsewhere or have their own lab. So... before I abandon slide films forever I am trying to find where to process my last dozen of films I already have. Thanks
  6. Looks like another instagram camera to me.... Third retro disappointment IMO
  7. It's out of stock on macodirect and fotoimpex - any idea where to find in EU?
  8. the old 80-200 AF-D have great leather hard case which I love - I keep the lens there, when not in use, also is very good protection /build quality/ if you move your equipment and etc. compare with it, the new soft ones like Nikon CL-M3 Lens Case /for 24-70 or 300 PF/ are useful only for dust protection
  9. the guy from the service said something like... they open the whole optic elements from the front, as one I guess, but... no idea honestly I called today - they haven't even started yet, so... it would be next year obviously
  10. nick_davis - no, I am quite careful with my lenses, never left to extreme temperatures, at least that I could remember, actually I never leave my photo bag in a car - as where I live there is little chance to find it afterwards 😉 the service said something like 20-30$ for the cleaning, but no answer yet I didn't save the test images, to achieve any effects on the image there should be various /not simultaneous/ movements of the blades, otherwise as other pointed there would be only bright image, as it was, not even vignetting
  11. Thanks everyone, the lens is already at the service, they said they will clean it, we will see. I checked it also on D750 - it was the same, at f2.8 was ok, the higher it goes the overexposed it becomes, obviously it is not closing correctly. Most probably last year it was only starting and now already a lot worse. Honestly I will sell it after the service... if anyone buys it of course. I have a lot of AF-D lenses for many years, this is my first case, hopefully the last.
  12. ilkka_nissila - you are absolutely right... unfortunately the guarantee is over... still I'll check the local service what they would propose
  13. 105 DC is my personal favourite and only for portraits
  14. Last year I stressed out when I tried making a photo with my brand new than D850 changing the 35mm AF-D lens and I noticed the super overexposed preview on the display - it is + 2 / +3 or even more stops brighter... when I switched to another lens everything went back to normal for my great relief - as D850 is way more expensive and valuable for me, I rarely use the 35mm Than back home I made some test and it was pretty normal, so I didn't pay much attention, but yesterday I got the same problem... Anyone experience such thing? The 35 lens is like new - I bought it brand new in... 2019 and I rarely use it, but never found such thing on another body, film F55, FM2 or my other digital D750... contacts are clean...
  15. Colin - yes I have tried all the slides that there were once on the market, starting with Senisa once upon a time :) Provia isn't bad, I have some very nice shots, but Velvia is (was) with greater contrast and sharpness somehow, that I like more... The same was with Ektachrome VS once - the two was my top favourite before Rodeo - it is a hard question already, sure I shoot a lot of digital, but still film has it's own unique feeling and vision I love... about the exposure on the snapshot - the two velvia shots are +1, +1,5; and the Ektachorme you see is BKT series - 0/+- 1,5 AJG - all the films came from the BH store, travelling the same way and developed by the same labs
  16. here is a snapshot on my window with my iPhone of the two last films - even here it's visible
  17. For at least 3 or 4 years, I am battling to have a good final slide film (Velvia 50 and 100) - most of them are heavily underexposed, 1 or even 2 stops, I have had even fully black one. Of course the colours are also changed. At the beginning I was blaming the development, as the machine E6 is long gone and they develop it by hand in Jobo and with Tetanal. But as there are 4 places here, which still develop E6, once they even used Fuji chemicals in 6 baths and all of them get similar results, I start looking for other reasons. The people who develop it are my friends and they supposed my camera had some issues. We made a test which wasn't very convincing... the difference wasn't visible. Slowly I was starting to think, that there is something else wrong - as Fujifilm had no longer competition on the slide market, I was wondering if something had changed in the production line. A theory that was rejected from everyone I talked to - indeed it sounds strange. But... today I got my first new Ektachrome and it is absolutely PERFECT!!!! I haven't seen such a good film for years! And I shoot slides for over 10 years now... The shooting conditions are absolutely the same - camera and development. With a lot of regrets I will have to say 'goodbye Velvia', you was gorgeous... once.
  18. honestly I never used Vuescan... it would be pity not to release something like plug in, as they have the technology, it is just a matter of shaping it - whether for ACR or another way. How you achieve the raw image doesn't matter. One more thing - there are two 52-62mm adapters in the set, one is tube like, I assume it is for crop DSLRs, as they need some more space in front to achieve 1:1 reproduction
  19. I just received the ES-2 adapter and I can say it looks great - everything you need for 35mm format, well build quality, typical for Nikon - the strip adapters that slide in for example are click-in position, not wondering inside the adapter as I thought it would be. (there are some metal shifts inside) The only thing I didn't like is that it is all plastic - the first one ES-1 is all metal, and the feel is different. I hope now they will release a plug-in or something so that we could use the software from the Coolscan on ACR or in camera - the auto convert that is in D850 is only in JPEG mode, which is not ok for me - on one hand I want uncompressed file and on other I use the HDR mode, which gives much more dynamic from the slide. For negatives you need much more procession, but the good thing now is that you can digitalise strips.
  20. and the prices of the Acros went crazy... in BH they are discontinued, in macodirect are more than 8 €, in amazon I saw even 10 £ and 22 $... I thought to buy several but I just won't give twice and third for a single roll... greedy b.... the same happened when they announced the discontinuing of the Ektachrome back in 2013
  21. I wouldn't say it was low light situation... the sun was down but I was on 400 ISO and... about 100 shutter speed and f 2.8... in other situations the color rendition is the same - harsh like... but indeed it should be ok with custom profiles - I didn't know there is even utility... I use the nikonpc.com
  22. Look how many films we used to have... and options... I remember shooting a lot of Sensia at the beginning... it was also a nice film Provia is kind of neutral as colors
