1.
I am really wanting to get out with my A99 and my new Tamron 24-70 2.8 lens, but have barely been able to, the combination is a massive piece to carry around, and all my outings so far have been with other people where it would get in the way of enjoyment. Thus I have been taking my Sony HX60V, which is where the next three images comes from. I am really waiting to showcase the A99 and lens soon.
This image is part of the city-scape of Sydney.
2. Yes Paul, the gun turret belongs to a decommissioned Australia Navy boat behind the Sam Simon. Which is part of the

maritime museum located there. I think the Sam Simon is there so people can go on and have a look, as it is still in use

and was recently chasing down Japan whaling ships before the decision was made to ban Japan and their whaling

    program.

  3.
I would not worry too much, it requires a simple adapter to fit the standard shoe which is now on all the new Sony Models. Till now they have supplied this adapter with the newer model cameras. Or if you buy their new flashes which have the standard shoe, it comes with them also.
Otherwise you can pick up a million different third party ones, and the actual Sony Brand ones from on-line stores or places like Ebay, or the Sony Sony store, and most places that stock Sony Gear.
Your after something like this http://www.miniinthebox.com/tf-324-hot-shoe-convert-adapter-sony-f58am-f56am-f36am-f42am-flash_p370340.html?currency=AUD&litb_from=paid_adwords_shopping&gclid=CIftrqmimL4CFdgjvQod8WIAzw which is one of many different third party adapters you can buy, which are cheaper than the actual Sony Brand.

  4.
Went for a nice walk around in the city today, (Sydney Australia.) This was docked in the harbour, The "Sam Simon." It was once a part of the Japanese whaling fleet. It's one of the Sea Shepard Fleet, they are the ones that go fighting all the whaling ships in the Antarctic, and go throw red paint on fur seals to stop them being killed for their pristine white fur's. While I don't agree with all of their tactics, like ramming whaling ships, etc. I do agree with the cause behind it. http://www.seashepherd.org.au/who-we-are/the-fleet.html

Sony HX60V

  5.
Sure it will be a great camera, but its is no different to the Canon and Nikon upgrades, Like the Nikon D600 to D610 and so on.
I am still more than content with my A99, not until they bring out a new full frame SLT will I get excited.

  6.
Randy I have massive hands which is why I use large DSLR's :) (KM 7D, Sony A700, A99. My A65 was too small lol.) Using a small camera like the Nex Series or the HX60V is not too bad, especially for a carry around all the time as a Street Camera. The HV60V in body size is about the same as the Nex camera's, but the lens goes back into the body, unlike the Nex Camera's which makes it perfect for me. Check it out, I would certainly recommend one, and it pretty cheap too. http://www.sony.com.au/product/dsc-hx60v

  7.
Just picked up last week my Tamron 24-70 2.8 lens, took a quick shot of my nieces in their Play house, I need more time to play around with it. But I am liking the images I have seen so far, nice and sharp, colors great. This image was cropped by about 70% off the original, and the detail is still amazing.

Sony A99 - Tamon 24-70 2.8

  8.
Something a bit different. I wanted a street photography camera, something I can carry around with me in my bag where ever I go. So I purchased the new Sony HX60V Camera that came out a couple of weeks ago. Went for a walk with a friend and took some shots with it, very impressed with the quality. It's does not take raw images, I have not shot Jpeg for about 5 years now lol. I missed shooting with the DSLR, but I did not miss walking 10km lugging it around, when I could carry this little camera.

Sony HX60V

  9.
I think I know what you did, in your menu you have

Lens Comp: Shading/Chro. Aber/Distortion

Specifically
Shading. It's an anti-vignetting correction feature, which can fully or partially compensate for darkened corners produced by some types of lenses. Because the default setting is Auto, you may never know that this feature is at work until you turn it off. Which is what you may have done somehow.

Obviously resetting the camera put it back to the default Auto which is correcting the image.
Either that, or you did not have the lens hood seated correctly, and between testing then resetting your camera you had taken it off and seated it correctly which fixed the vignetting.
One of the two above you did.

  10.
This was a random image, it was night time, hand held at ISO 3200, basically the light is from the big screen TV. I am loving the low noise at high ISO. I could only dream of getting this image this clean on my A700 or A65 at any ISO over 1000, let alone ISO 3200

Sony A99 ISO 3200

  11.
Hi Robin,
Sony mount does not include VC, because the body of Sony digital SLR cameras includes image stabilisation functionality.

But I will have a look, because it is a lens which people keep comparing the Ziess too. and it would be about $1000 cheaper
