  1. OK, I tried to edit my post about "reacting" to Toms lovely image as I misunderstood the "x" over the heart. I got an edit box, but then was told it couldn't be saved because I took too long, but there was a green "saving" box at the bottom. Confusing. We need more time to edit. An "x" over something looks, to me at least, like it's somehow off limits.
  2. I may go back to this location over the weekend as more fall color is present.
  3. Laura Weishaupt tried to "react" to your image, but was unable to due to restrictions on expressing appreciation via nameless hearts. It got an x. So, in words, Tom, lovely image...sunrise or sunset? Just curious.
  4. That's always a sound approach. Way back, before "like" buttons and little hearts with no names, if we were moved by an image we said so by using words. But, there was a lot more discussion back then overall.
  5. I'm a former subscriber, now registered user. Don't know how I got the "pro" designation. Jeez, on the original site I was a Hero. At least we know it's not a subscriber/user thing. I use Windows 10 and up to date Firefox on a desk top. I do see the icons when I hover over the hearts on posts, just numbers on mine and no names. I got a notification that 2 people "reacted" to my post, but no names. I'm not going to lose sleep over it. It is nice to see names associated with appreciation. I prefer names to anonymity.
  6. I don't see them. Maybe it's a function of being a registered user or a subscriber. Being logged in doesn't make any difference. As for making adjustments in the notifications:, adjust to what? The only option I see is to get an e-mail. Seems I shouldn't need an e-mail to see who "likes" an image.
  7. It's 6am EST and we're still on this side of the border.
  8. Luis, your photos are always worth another look. Our temperatures took a dive and it feels like summer is over. A sunset seems appropriate. About 20 photographers were nearby and the volunteer in charge of closing the gate waited very patiently as everyone enjoyed a spectacular end to the day.
  9. From an outing by the lake yesterday morning. 6D with the Canon 70-200 f4.
  10. It's time to start thinking about how I want to photograph autumn color. An early morning walk around the lake edge may provide some inspiration.
  11. Women's March, Philadelphia 2018
  12. The National Museum of Industrial History is in nearby Bethlehem, PA on the site of the old Bethlehem Steel. This should be enlarged, framed, and hung in there for all to see. It's insanely good.
  13. @Glenn McCreery Every time I look at your image today, and I've looked many times, I see something new. The bubbles in the tiny wave even have shadows...it's a wonderful and joyous image. Thanks for sharing it.
  14. I feel your frustration. The last post on the test site was by me on Aug. 30. I pointed out the obvious and echoed the observations of the thread OP. No reply. There's no point in visiting the test site as there's really nothing to test. I'm not wasting another minute on it. The onus is on the new admins to let us know when there is a viable test site to visit. Micky, in the mean time, put your feet up and enjoy the sunrise/sunset. Pour a favorite beverage, grab your camera by the strap and enjoy the day. Life is short and we all need to spend our time in worthwhile pursuits.
  15. Thank you. We had puddles with concentric rings of ice out in the woods. They were always interesting, especially when some of the ice started to melt from the bottom, leaving thicker rings of ice suspended in a "glass" filled with minute bubbles. We had been bucking up firewood near-by and some of the bar oil must have flung into the puddle leaving iridescent fractures. They weren't really visible when I shot the photos, but were a pleasant surprise.
  16. Thanks for providing a new word/phrase of the day. Gotta admit, I had to look that one up.
  17. Fingers of incoming fog make Goat Island (aka Bird Island) look like it's smoldering from a natural catastrophe. The feature has quite a personality. I've been told by local naturalists that puffins nest on the other side. I'm still looking for them.
