While I am writing, I would like to ask those who only give me a three (or maybe less) how I could improve this shot?  I would like their advice, if they have anything of value to say, which frankly I doubt, or they would have said it.   I could quite easily remove him from his background and place him in a plainer environment, but the shot is what it is; a child playing basketball in a downtown park by the railroad tracks.  Not another beautiful scene of misty water, and certainly not a nude with her butt in my face, but a fairly accurate portrait of a child doing his damnedest to get the ball in the hoop.

I am well aware that the rating system is a take it or leave it affair, and I don't have to lay myself open to those who hit and run;  I am equally aware that I shall learn nothing here unless those who actually know something are prepared to tell their reasons for their ratings, be they good or bad.

I couldn't find the original, so I guess you removed it;  it was darker in the sky, I think, and I really liked it.  This version is good too, I like the effect of the light radiating up and out in the sky.

I love this type of image and this one is beautifully constructed.
