Giangiorgio, meanwhile discovered that (this type of) gulls are monogamous (who would have thought such nobility). They come together each year for about 5 months to make a new nest and off-spring. When they meet again, they make this exchange of weeds or plants, as a sign of renewal of bond and friendship and love! Here in Oporto, we have so many - as we are at the seaside - and they are more of a nuisance. I had no idea of this romantic part of their existence..... (how do they find each other again in this big world - among so many of the same species?) Best regards, Wobby.
