Things seem to be deceptively still in this image..On closer inspection( enlarge) you will see that there is some excitement going on.  One can see splashing made by a fish or some other creature of interest to the birds that are hovering overhead..

  1. Hi Mike,

Thank you for your feedback and the kind comment..I am having a holy heck of a time making my horizons straight..I tried Tony's technique, but it didn't work for me,lol ..I went out today, but the weather was hazy and cloudy and I didn't get very far before I changed my mind and returned home..I will try again tomorrow morning..I am going try my best to shoot another image like this one, but with different colors..I want to try to be at this same spot, a few minutes earlier, when the sun is peeking halfway over the horizon..To me  the sunrise is at its prettiest and most colorful during those first few minutes :)

    Take care,

    Lisa

  2. I know I should go out and photograph different scenes and subjects, but for now I am addicted to going to this one spot and others like it to view and photograph the sunrise.. Today the water was very choppy, the temperature was in the mid 50's and it was breezy.. Beautiful Morning :)

  3. I notice that I am having a heck of a time getting my horizons straight in some of my photos during the post processing..I work from a Macbook Pro laptop computer to do my post processing.

Any hints and feedback are welcome :)

I love this shot!  I love the composition, the  dreamy quality of this photo!

The elephant's stride( that you captured awesomely), seems to be saying "Nobody can rush me, I walk at my own pace"

    Best Regards

  4. James,

So sad to see this lake in this condition..I still fondly remember that afternoon I spent there...I remember shooting  my alligator pics from the little curved pathway seen in this photo, and that there was actually a lake with only a small part of this underwater growth seen ( don't know the name of this plant)  :/

    Hi Mike

Thank you for you comments! I was awestruck when I saw this unusually pretty sunrise! As it turned out, I had very few minutes/chances  to get shots of the sun at this stage of being visible over the horizon.... The cloud seen in this image was constantly moving and covering the sun, lol.  I came to realize soon after I arrived at this place , that it was a popular one with fishermen and other photographers :)

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  5. Alf,

I love the mood, and scenery of this shot!

The story behind this shot makes me laugh though :)

Yesterday I drove  to what I thought would be a quiet place to shoot my photos..As it approached the time for the sun to rise, people started arriving one by one to this spot I had chosen..A fisherman came first, gathered his equipment together, and waded out into the water to do his fishing...I thought " no problem,  the fisherman will be the extra bonus of interest to some of my shots".. After a few minutes of walking around and getting some shots in, I realized that  another photographer's hiney was already firmly planted on the rock that I was planning to sit on to get the angle I needed for my next shots ..

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

Thank you for your encouraging feed back on my photo ! I posted this photo on 3 different forums that I belong to..I posted a handful of other photos along with  this one. I shot all of these photos that are in my "Waterfront" gallery early this morning.. Maybe the  low traffic of viewers has something to do with the keywords I entered with each photo, or it being mid work week.. lol :)

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  6. I love cityscapes and I love sunrise/sunset photos ! The beautiful and vivid natural light versus the city lights  drew my eye to this image when I was browsing thru the critique forum ! Awesome composition! I look forward to the day that I have my camera with me and have a photo opportunity similar to this one ! :)

    Best Regards,

    Lisa
