  1. This is a picture of a Mollymawk I took on a fishing trip north of Dunedin. I

took the shot underexposed, and then blew the exposure to produce a high

key, high contrast image, and adjusted the WB, to get simple, sweeping

    lines.

    Thanks for your feedback!

    Piotr,

Love this shot! Great compressed perspective, sweeping diagonal lines, excellent placement of the tree, pastel shades - all make this a fantastic shot!

    Thank you,

  2. I've tried to post this twice already, but for some reason it refuses

    to work!

This is Hooper's Inlet, on the Otago Peninsula, north of Dunedin, New

Zealand. We drove out at 6 into the frigid Autumn pre-dawn, and

arrived just in time to capture a magnificent sunrise.

Taken with a Nikon D700. Nikkor 180/2.8. handheld.

    Thank you for your comments/ratings.

    Friendly Fantail

I posted this already, but for some reason, it didn't work...

I visited the newly opened Orokonui Ecosanctuary, just outside

Dunedin, today. This is a vast, fenced off enclosure housing native

New Zealand flora and fauna, with a 6 7 foot, fine wire mesh fence,

with specially designed tops and bottoms to keep all non-native pests

    away.

This fantail alighted on a railing just outside the visitors' center

as we were leaving on our guided walk. He flew off in about five

seconds, just after I managed to snap off this shot... my favourite

    shot of the day!

  3. Dunedin's famous for its beautiful, historic Railway Station. I've shot

here many times, but this time I wanted to give it an edgy, dark feel. I

shot at ISO 800, which on my D700 produces only a very gentle, hardly

perceptible grain, and gave it a tilt to put it off balance. I tweaked the

WB to give some parts of the building a cyanish/greenish tinge. A few

minutes later, that slight glow in the sky was gone, and the picture didn't

    look the same.

    What do you think? Cheers!

    Trippy!

This is a long exposure (about 10s I think) at the platform at Dunedin's

famous Railway Station. There's a row of trusses and lights, which, when

you turn and move your camera about on a Tripod end up looking a bit like

    this...

Tell me what you think! Cheers!

  4. Marvelous shot! Simply love it.. the colours are subtle, and the composition striking.. the waterfall is absolutely essential, and the way the light strikes the outcrops at lower left is simply brilliant.

Fantastic capture, my favourite from your portfolio.

    All the best,

    Vineet

  5. I love landscapes like this.. They're rare, and always striking!

Fantastic shot, great colours, and great light... Must have taken a long time to find and take a shot like this.. The curves, and the apparently deliberately placed tree on the left.. Fantastic shot!

    Cheers,
