2.
Question to this :
- Is it possible that the first shot is already at the max. exposure for the camera due to the brightness of the light ?
If so the camera cannot add the extra EV and may skip the rest of the sequence .
You can test this by trying the "same" sequence using - 0.7 EV . , or by doing the same sequence ppointing at a shadow area...

 3.
Questions :
- did you , in the past, update the camera "solid ware" ?
- Can you post an example of a "messed up"image ?

Lol, most pp at this ws often have comments on rumours, but now the most extensive thread is about a rumour ocer a camera that was not announced or even hinted at by Nikon themselves,...

This thread even spend a lot more attention to this then any other site i could find.... :-)

Their purpose is to generate web traffic at all cost in order to sell advertisements and make money

Yup, totally agree to that,!!
But i think both the truthfull sites and rumour sites have their place.. the former for geting / sharing iusefull information, the latter ones for amusement.. Both try to make an income from what they do best, be it information or amusement... and if they do their job well, and they do, i like to visit them both..

It is just the art to use them both to your advantage and know which one to believe.... :-)

 6.

Newtons rings caused by separated elements

MM Not likely when the filter is indeed created from 1 piece of glass..
Interbal reflections within the lens system and/or sensor reflections would be possible though, if within the lens system itself then the pattern would be differend depending on the lens used.

Please provide a link to that teaser

MM Nice one from Nikon Rumours, putting up a picture, subscribted : "This is not a nikon teaser", loads of ppl who read to quickly miss the word "not"... :-)

 8.
Question, is this just for this ( kind of) lightsources ?
(& What ty of lamps are in this fixture.?)
They do not look like old fashioned lightbulbs to me, and it may be that the filter shows the composition of the light better than you can see with human eyes ....

 9.
I agree with Shun, just set the time manually once.
Question : is the Date in the camera OK ?
If in the past you have had your battery removed from the camera for an extended time, then the internal clock may have stopped because it keeps powered for a limited tim by an internal rechargeable battery. If then powering up the camera again, youy will have to set the clock to date and time again too

 10.

PS. I do shoot NEF + JPG and use NX2, But only mess with the NEF of the best shots

I guess you are using Capture NX2 ?

If so , then be aware that the D810 is not supported by Capture NX2 , and Capture NX2 will not be updated anymore.
So When switching to a newer than D800(e) camera model, you might also need other software for POST ....

 11.
OK, if this is at 400mm wide open, the DOF varies between 2cm and 20 cm over the pictures so exact focussing is crtitical in these examples.
I cannot check from here but could you indicate whether you were using the central focus point or multple focus points ? ( you can review this in VIEW NX2 or Capture NX2) because it is a bit hard to see where exactly you were focussing on.
You could also try to stop down one or two stops, giving you a better DOF for this kind of subjects, and test on realy stionary objects ( plants move in the wind, birds move by themselves...) .

 12.
If your camera is stil realy new, i would pay a visit to the dealer to have them clean it. Especiallly if it is like a "fingerprint" , which may be harder to remove than just dust ...

 13.
Lech, it would alo be helpfull if u could share one or two images , so we can see what i sgoing on...

 14.
Impressive.. espcially with the subject choosen !

 15.
mm Good advice : Different card.

If the images in your camera look OK when viewing them then :

In addition and depending on the method you use to load the images to your PC
- ry a new USB cable, sometimes when they go bad they can give this kind of disturbances due to bad connection
- If using a card reader : try a different card reader.

 16.
Nikon offers new NEF & NRW Codec versions, the NEF version supports the D810 raw image files and the Nikon 1 J4 image files.

The NRW Codec supports the image files from the newest Coolpix Camera's

Here are the links :
NEF Codec : http://www.nikonimglib.com/nefcodec/
NRW Codec : http://www.nikonimglib.com/NRWcodec/

 17.
I do not want Nikon to install software whitch allows anybody ( themselves and/or otheres) to nose around in my systems full stop, so i choose not agree with the terms and i do not install the software...

as well as information about the SOFTWARE installed

SInce Nikon does not speciffically tell which software is meant in this sentence it allows them to scan all of your computer anytime they whish too to find all installed software on your system.
To do any type of scanning Nikon must have installed scan functions in Capture NX-D otherwise this scanning would not be possible.
It also has been shown in several instances before that if there is any form of scanning software installed with software packages , it seems to be quite easy for malicious ppl to abuses this build-in scanware" for their own benefits.

 18.
mm After reading the licens agreement i decide NOT to instal this Capture NX-D software .
Part of it says :

You authorize Nikon to collect from your computers certain identifying information about your computers (i.e., the operating system, CPU, and terminal ID) as well as information about the SOFTWARE installed (i.e., name, version and the region and language codes) for the sole purpose of tracking your compliance with this Agreement.

This statement alows nikon to nose around on your system wherever and whenever they like to, meaning that this software contains "Spyware" which i do not like at all, no matter whatever purpose Nikon says this function has.

So for now this software is a No No to me....

 19.
Just remeber,
Do not getrid of Capture NX2 / View NX2 jusdt yet, !!
Capture NX-D is not backward compatible since it stores the chaneges in a "Side Car" where the other programs store changes within the RAW /NEF files...

 20.
Nikons new software for processing raw files is now officially released..
Here is a ( European) link for free download :
http://nikonimglib.com/ncnxd/index_nl_eur.html#os-windows

 21.
Shun i agree,
That's also why i start his post with "For what it's worth" ...
There are often posts about memory cards on this forum though , and i thought maybe somebody would be interrested in Nikons's latest publication about the subject , tah's all ..

What i did find is that a Nikon's websites around the world do look different, and some "information" is published just on a few of them..
.

 22.
Robert ,
That version 2.4.7 is the current version of Capture NX2,
the update in this post is the one for View NX2
Looking at the Nikon USA i do not see that newest version of view nxx2 so i guess it is not there yet for the ameraca's ?

 23.
For what it's worth..
TOday Nikon Europe publishes a revised overview of what Nikon vieuws as "Approved Memory cards"for nikon camera's ..

Here is a link :
https://nikoneurope-nl.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61518

 24.
mm IF you plan to use a wide angle lens, than make sure that the rows of subjects are close together , otherwise the ppl in the back row start to look a lot "smaller"than the ones in the front row.
Also make sure your tripod is tall enough to gen your camera on "eye level" , i have seen some recent group shots where the camera ( using a wide lens) was a lot lower, making the front row ppl look like giants compared to the second row ppl...
sometimes taking a step backand using a "normal ( 35 or 50mm depending on the sensor size) solves more problems than using a wider lens does for group shots ....

 25.
Adriano, thx for this write-up !
one question : ViewNX2 and Capture NX2 change the NEF file itself to include adjustments, so when calling Nik those changes are going allong with the file, .
Capture NX-D uses a Sidecar file to safe changes to the NEF in, so the NEF itself does not change.
So if you call Nik from NX-D, are the changes from NX-d also carried to Nik or do you call nik with Tiff only to process further ?
