1.
Put the Fuji X series on your short list. An XT10 and a prime or 3 and you're all set.

 2.
the image already is in 3 channels; just go to the Channels tab (lower right w/ the Layers tab) and mess w/ whatever you want.

Study up on Photoshop's 'Calculations' and/or 'Apply Image' functionality to

 3.
Henry,

Thanks for stepping in. I received the replacement via B&H just yesterday so no problem.

 4.
1. yes, you can insert/remove cartridges as you wish.
2. cost analysis has already been done............
http://www.redrivercatalog.com/cost-of-inkjet-printing.html

 5.
I can only say that I have the prior 3880 (and 3800) and they both said something like 22 or 25 max sheet size but in reality, it was more like 37.5 or so.
I've printed 13x38 prints on my 3880 (RedRiver paper sheets) w/o any problem (something like 0.25 or 0.375 margins)
BrooksG makes a very valid point.

 6.
The P800 doesn't have such a short limit (and it has roll support). Perhaps you're thinking Canon PRO-1000 (recently increased limit to 25" (BFD))
I think your choices are realistically P800 or some real 24" roll printer (maybe Canon iPF5100 or 64xx).
I wouldn't doubt your 4900 is toast.

 7.
My first thought would be to point the flash *backwards* and use a white wall or ceiling to act as a big reflector. You might also need/want to rethink how much DOF you're getting w/ 5.6 and see if you can scrape by with wider/faster

 8.
As luck would have it, I received yesterday some 13x19 'special order' paper from BH (an Innova product).
Even though the exterior shipping box displayed no significant damage, most of the contents had a corner crushed making it unusable. Always a crapshoot.

 9.
first off, return them. it should be their problem to package it correctly, not yours. You should have seen how poorly AmazonUK wrapped a box of 17" roll paper for international transit.

That said, the paper I get from BH runs the gamut of minimal cardboard over-wrap (part of the Canon PRO-100 'giveaway') to big box w/ excellent bubblewrap coverage. Also dont forget to lay some blame on the mfgrs. The Epson Sig.Worthy packaging is great and honestly, from what I've seen, most of the others are simply 'meh' and it's hard to imagine so little 'engineering' went into packaging and protecting their product.

 10.
I think you'll have issues trying to source that Sihl paper in the US.

Try Inkpress. I see they have a luster duo 280 or a semi-gloss duo

 11.
First question is: What/why doesn't the existing Pentax K30 satisfy your needs?

 12.
from the online manual............ (see note near bottom)

Choose a search rule from the Contains All pop-up menu.
Contains

Searches for the specified alphanumeric sequence(s), including partial words. For example, performing a Contains search for flo returns results that include the word flower. If multiple sequences are entered, Lightroom finds photos that contain any of the individual sequences.

Contains All

Searches for text that contains all specified alphanumeric sequences. Say, for example, you have a folder of photos of a family gathering, and each photo is tagged with the names of the individuals in the shot. You could perform a Contains All search on Joh and Su to find all photos that contain both John and Susan. Simply enter a space between search terms.

Contains Words

Searches for text that contains all specified alphanumeric sequences as whole words. To find photos with the keyword flower using a Contains Word search, for example, type flower.

Doesn’t Contain

Searches for text that does not contain any specified sequence.

Starts With

Searches for text that begins with the specified alphanumeric sequence.

Ends With

Searches for text that ends with the specified alphanumeric sequence.

Type the text in the search box.

Add an exclamation point (!) before any word to exclude it from the results. Add a plus sign (+) before any word to apply the Starts With rule to that word. Add a plus sign (+) after any word to apply the Ends With rule to that word.

The photos with the specified text criteria appear in the Grid view and the Filmstrip.

 13.
Use whatever method results in getting the shot that you or your customer has envisioned. I hear a lot of photographers say 'Oh, I always shoot outdoor w/o any flash/etc' and it turns out that they never have used flash and dont know how to control or creatively apply it.
It's certainly easy enough to drag a small nano lightstand w/ you and pop a speedlight or a reflector. It makes YOU in control of the image vs. letting the available light dictate.

 14.
This was the one I was talking about but now I see that the el18 is the large battery for the D4/5 class and I do not think they make one to fit.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/925056-REG/watson_adc_compact_ac_dc_charger_without.html

 15.
BH has a Watson brand (or maybe they changed labels) which has interchangeable 'plates' to accom. various batteries. Small and light.

 16.
Well at least what I learned in my engineering program jives w/ what your friend learned.

 17.
basically, lead batteries are lead batteries. If you get the voltage, amps, size and tab placement correct, you're good to go.
at $100, Profoto is making a lot of profit.

 18.
I dont know about that but they do offer a LiFe battery setup; you just dont own that one ;)
I am surprised they dont offer a mod/upgrade.
Plus, ProFoto is what, 3-4x more expensive?

 19.
PCB does seem to offer the VLX series and associated charger which *may* be usable.

USING A CHARGER OTHER THAN SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATED FOR THE PARTICULAR BATTERY. Lithium Ion battery chargers provide a specific charging voltage and microprocessor current and voltage control. They are fundamentally different than chargers for SLA, NiCd, NiMH, or other rechargeable batteries. Chargers for LiNiMnCoO2 (NMC) batteries (VML) and LiFePO4 batteries (VLX) are not interchangeable, and require different charging voltages.

 20.
charging lithium is very different from charging lead. I'm going to guess that if PCB *doesn't* offer a LiFe battery then their charger wont properly do it either to say nothing of the lack of cell balancing which is always a good ting. I would STRONGLY urge you to NOT 'just try it'. It's a great way to burn your house down.

 21.
it's really a function of the software you're using. The Argyll suite is able to override that NEC limitation since they wrote their own driver (or at least dont seem to use the XRite SDK)

 22.
Yes, tools like PS or LR (and others I'm sure) can either apply a 'lens profile' which tells it how to correct falloff or they have a slider that allows you to apply a user defined (size, shape, center, feather) vignette (or anti-vignette in your case) for corrective or creative purposes.

 23.
there are so many because they basically give them away w/ most every decent camera or fire-sale them. Right now, you can get them $149 w/ 50pk paper after rebate. If you wait, sometimes they can be found for $99 or less. I got one and it's quite nice. The ink costs can be a factor though but there is always 3rd party.

 24.
Have you actually gone through your images and looked at the most oft used focal lengths? My hunch is that you'd see that you could probably replace some of the zooms w/ some small number of primes and save a whole lot of size/weight. And of course, leave the grip at home.

 25.
photographers-toolbox.com is a Lightroom plugin site.
http://www.photographers-toolbox.com/products/lightroomstatistics/photolistimporter/
What is the "Photo list importer" plug-in

Do you get lists of selected photos from clients? The challenge is how to transform that list into a selection of photos in Lightroom, without manually copy and pasting them.
This powerful plug-in reads a list of photo file names from a text file or from the clipboard and collects them into a collection called "LRS_Photo_List" for further processing.
Your clients do not have to type the full photo name when using the Folder or Collection filtering. So 108, 123.. for example would be sufficient in combination with (part of) the folder of collection name.

Another application might be searching for photos in Lightroom with a similar file name. For more information, see section "How does "Photo list importer" work?".
