@mis: "There is a leaf I need to photograph and print at 40x60 for my bathroom."
You need a fig leaf in your own bathroom? The height of modesty! I'm sure whatever resolution it's currently in will do!

MASTER OF MY DOMAIN.
I'm still in the challenge, and ready to go another 3 months! Anyone care to join me?
Nothing like your own personal recession to focus the dollars...
-
So, so, soooo in. In fact, I can easily remain master of my domain for months longer. I will win this contest! Disposable income = $0, so this is a piece of cake! I'll do laps around the finish line!
You are all weeeeeaaaaaak.

Is it hot in here?
It's hot in here.

I smell one of those "a true macro has 1:1 magnification" argument coming...

Fong Bong... what a great name for a band...
-
Hin, you really are THE MAN.
disclaimer: If my website ever looks remotely like Hin's everyone will know why. I'm an excellent plagiarizer!
Thanks for some inspiration!

this thread's going south quick, so I'll add my photo contribution to try to bring it back to birds and sex.

[boy, this could get me in trouble]
Matt, it's not the rolls of film, but uh... how you well you can focus.
Extension tubes anyone???
There's gotta be a joke about the 18-250 lens right about here...

That's good news, Hin. I'm going to explore the integration in PSE.
I get a lot of mileage out of creating the online galleries (when I shoot soccer games, all the parents love to get a link for the photos), and they're great looking in PSE, and then I post them online.
My wife runs up the stairs, having already dialed 911 when she hears my sharp intakes of breath.
The picture quality is awful!
-
Hin, those look GREAT. First, just fantastic shots. It all starts there. But second, I make online galleries using PSE 6's built-in templates, and they dumb-down ALL my JPEGs to really poor quality. Here's an example:
http://www.hollanderfamily.net/pix/050108%20Anniversary%20Trip%20to%20Barbados/
Even with the first picture, you can see all the jaggies. The original looks much better!
Is SimpleViewer what you used to create the flash-based gallery? Tell me more please!

Right, and this line is too limiting:
"Shake Reduction compatible with any PENTAX lens ever produced"
It should highlight that it's compatible with any (K-mount) lens ever produced for PENTAX by ANY manufacturer!
-
Great shot, mis. I think that lens represents a pretty useful range, IMHO.
Too bad it doesn't work in color (a real limiting factor, and one you should include in your description, if you're an honest seller).
:-D

The up-close shots were with the Sigma 70-300 APO with the macro switch on. Thanks for noticing the bokeh! I'm kinda psyched about the results as well.

GREAT stuff from everyone, but I think Javier's blood pressure must be artificially low to be able to get that kind of stuff handheld. I mean really: That's not fair.<br><br>O Shiva: You're an inspiration!

looking at it again, I think that instead of trying to tease apart this monster from the flora around it, that maybe I could try a much shallower DOF, to properly put the roots/dirt in focus (literally&figuratively)? "Swallowed" and "Enchilada" I manipulated via exposure, to try to separate the dead from the live...
-
duh... HTML.

I have to say, I look forward to your photos immensely.<br><br>Not sure I love the B&W application of the balloons as much as color, but I'll spend more time with it.<br><br>My opinions aside, I really enjoy your work!

the Sigma 30mm f1.4 sure is easy to work with, and nice for getting in close, even though mis doesn't really want one.
