The wet one really is great, Dad.

That first shot is to-die-for! I love it! The composition is great, and - this may sound weird - but I especially like the interesting stick in the bottom left foreground. Interesting all around!
As for the panning, I didn't see any. Looked like a still shot to me. =)

Isn't part of the goal to deter thieves?

You know, that's not a bad idea, mis. Market all 3 lenses for sale, with the nice case, offer 15% off (or - if they want ME to buy it, 50% off), as a package deal.
Wait, sorry: Rebates only, no discounts, right? OK, $150 rebate.

I think I remember... the bike/board event? My sons (esp. my youngest - turning 5 soon) would L-O-V-E to see that stuff...
-
Hard Rock in Baltimore??? Um, heck - you could show me in person.

John, I'm seeing this as well. It's got a ball head, but I can't tell if there are controls for leveling (maintaining parallel) on it. I see a level bubble for the 'pod itself, but I mean for keeping the ball level. That would be a deal-breaker for me.
Otherwise, I agree: Looks GREAT on paper, and wondering if anyone has experience with the brand.

Another satisfied customer!
Love my APO...
The bokeh shot is lovely, and the 2nd shot is even better!

I like most of it, but I think you could actually crop out(!) some of the bottom of it. It would help cut down on the heavy white overload in the photo, and some of the problem of what looks like a loosely draped towel over her body instead of a wedding gown. I don't think it detracts significantly to lose everything below her elbow.
It *is* weird how the background got so 2-dimensional, like a cardboard cutout (fittingly, with the old Hollywood movie effect), and has an almost Batman shape to it... and that demonic look on her face... I wonder if I'd feel positive about it if I could see what she really looks like!

Javier, first: You're my hero. Great pictures, no muss, no fuss, awesome composition, stunning colors, and you make it seem simple, and within everyone's grasp.
But I will say that the 4th, 3rd, 2nd to last shots seem like the flash imposed itself on the photos. All of the others seem without fault to my eyes.

Thanks Jeff. I'll be eager to see your side-by-sides, and also about hearing how much $ to shell out for said plug-in/standalone.
Yeah, I *see* all the controls in ACR for noise, but it's blindly fiddling with sliders for me to get it right, and then I want to apply the same fix to all 88 keepers from the day's shoot.
'It's a process!" (Billy Crystal, in "Analyze That").

AND I know that Javier is so good with the JPEGs, I should listen to him intently...

Well, perhaps this is the natural progression for me. Now it's been long enough with me just picking up and shooting, and now need to consider things a bit more.
It's just that I didn't seem to have this trouble before, and wondering what's different. As I look through, I guess I didn't do a good job with the metering (like I ever really tried that hard, frankly), and - coincidentally - tried shooting JPEG. I guess I can't blame the file format...

I mostly shoot in RAW (DNG) with my K10D, and then batch convert to JPEG for web posting/emailing.
The last 2 soccer games I shot, I figgered I'd try shooting in JPEG (highest quality) yesterday. Beautiful,
bright sunny day. But I get the same noisy results as I did in the fading light last week.
So far, this isn't working for me! My converted DNG to JPEGs look fine, but straight from the camera, these all
came out a little underexposed (the first one's not so bad), and everything not in bright sunlight is NOISY.
-
See, maybe my eye ain't trained right, but that first shot looks POPPIN' good, shallow DOF and all. How come shallow DOF don't bother me none? Maybe my eyes are like that...
Looka' mah seester (steppin out)! She done all grow'd up!

Impressive detail Bryan! I wonder if your post wouldn't help others in p-net (digital darkroom?) as well. We're lucky enough to have you here, though (I'm not complaining!).
What little time I've spent at kerneltrap.org has been plenty eye-opening in terms of write speed on computer. That is, user experience is pretty varied, even among the same card make, model and capacity.
But the amount of time on this topic is also commensurate with how much I care, to be frank. I own several of the A-Data and Transcend cards (in fact, PQI is the only other manufacturer of SDHC card I own), and don't find them noticeably different from one another in write performance on my K10D. True, I have not bench-tested any of them, but my own self-justification is that the money I saved on them (only purchasing on sale) is proportional to the speed loss I experience over a higher quality product.
To me, it's worth the gamble that they may actually perform on par with the good stuff. =)
Also, except for amateur sports photography (which makes up the slight majority of my shooting in the 8+ months of DSLR ownership), I have yet to run into situations where I've filled my buffer with DNG RAW files so that I cannot grab more shots. And I'm more than satisfied with my results at highest quality JPEG shooting.
I'll be very curious to see if your write performance testing in camera bears any relationship to your results on PC.

Michael: AWESOME! Another tennis fan??? I was at the Legg Mason earlier in the tourney. Love watching JMDP's ascent in the rankings this summer. Wonderful player.
Bravo on your shot! I'm jealous!

I'm only a third of the way through Yvon's K10D book! Can't bail now! This reminds me of the PC "Chip Wars" from 10 years ago...
I'll catch y'all when the K5D drops in price.

Well, besides the anatomical close-up, it's a gorgeous photo of a supremely cute puppy...

Nick, that's the way the Univ. of Maryland football games look like too.
Bob: I love the Marbled Orbweaver (despite being just a little freaked out by spiders. Not as much as my Dad, I've learned today, after all these years!).
I found one at our house a couple years ago, and was fascinated by the colors. I got a few shots using a P&S (from my pre-Pentax days). Since it's not POW, and I'm not at home, I won't post it, but maybe someone will start a spiders thread (web?), and we can find out who's REALLY an arachniphobe.
Peter, your fly-snack shot is killer! =)

Um, yeah. I paid more than $75 for mine. Nice work! I admire those who can steal!

I like #2. I thought it was a great shot from your other post.
Of course, I'm a wino...
