  1. Gianni What a shot, I read your comments re the greetings etc... that image will be with me for sometime, it tells a big story. I like the image and I like how you captured it. I keep looking at that face. I bet he doesn't complain about the weather. Great Shot.
  2. An old sea warrior, maybe even an old Viking or pirate for sure. Good shot, the light the expression, excellent, you can almost hear his gravel voice.

    YO SOY

Sweid ... I like the composition, the back turned and that expression... wow. Interesting title, the whole idea of existing in this modern soup of lost reality, you captured it right there... that's what I see when I look at this image. What was the shot for, is it a series or for an exhibit????

The lighting is simple, Film Noir needs no further explanation, except I used the theatre of lighting to divid the image into its two stages... each character on their own stage, in their own world. Typical Film Noir technique. As for Pierrot, Black and White customer character, and its a BW series, colour is another medium. But I am disappointed that someone would attack the judges for their efforts, and the work of some twenty weeks of submitted images, when I looked back I was impressed by the diversity and talent of that work... interesting that the people who make positive comments are the people who have the most talent, as I checked to see who was saying what, I was very impressed with the work of many many people.

    Dance with snakes

Igor you might be correct, certainly regarding the snakes, the young man was not involved in the chambers of law as far as I know. But what a great idea for a series of Judges and Lawyers.

    The Sharman

Igor poet by any other name.... thank you for the comments. I did use a tripod/ Rollei SL66SE film was Kodak EPP 100 asa natural light. The light in some towns was diffused by the desert dust and drew a cast like a large soft box... it bought out the reds and yellows.

Igor you poet... good observations, when I shot this series I was writing a journal, it got pretty poetical I latter realised. I think India styled me because I made no impression on India.
  16. The road less travelled, such mystery to this image, composition rests beautifully. I want to go there...thanks.
  17. Poetry... is it father and daughter in the quest of discovery?

    Peter Sculthorpe

Thank you Warren. Peter Sculthorpe the subject in the photo, was such a talent he walked into the studio, and from some distance observed the sheet music, he announced "Bach's Fugue ... " I shot this on BW 5x4 Agfa 400 or it might have been Kodak T Max 400, printed on Agfa MG, Dektol dev.

The image was shot using a Rollei SL66 BW film was Agfa 120 400ASA. This was pushed half a stop and the print was processed in a double bath of dektol, the paper was Agfa multi grade.

Suprriyo I really like the contrasts between the accordion player and the noise of the traffic below, tells a story and I like the tonal range you get in your images... very cool image.

    Jackaroo

Supriyo Hey thanks for the compliments... the image was shot using a Rollie SL66 using Agfa 120 400asa, I think I pushed the film to 800asa and printed on Agfa multi grade. That's were the tones come from. As I recall it was a split print both using mixed grades and double bath using Dektol.
