I tried something like that on our last visit to FL but didn't get what I wanted--which you have done ;~)
-
You'd look dashing I'm sure ~(;~)

I like this a lot! For one thing, it's a great antidote to the "smooth water" look I regard as something of an affliction. I also like the strong horizontals.

A change of pace...

Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Gord! I discovered a nesting colony (12 nests!) in the sycamores along a nearby stream three years ago and it seems to be perennial (smaller numbers this year, though.) Here's one from a couple of weeks ago.

As a matter of fact, I checked in on them this afternoon but not with a serious bird lens. There's one in this photo, camouflaged in the rocks on the left ;~)

;~) Yeah I put on my beret for this one. I didn't want to end up with just another fiddle-head fern shot.

Wow--thanks Doug!
-
Thanks for the comment, Susan! I discovered this thing on the sidewalk at work and just had to go get the camera.
-
Oh I'm glad you saw this, David, and appreciate the comment! I have to admit I'm pleased with it.
-
Sweet!

I guess there was about 30' between us and he was quite calm. I'm glad I had a long lens, though ;~)
-
Thanks, Jack--I've seen that movie, too.;~) I never imagined when I took it, that this shot would turn out so well.

Thanks for the very astute comments, Fred. I'm very much a novice when it come to street photography and so was pretty pleased with this--especially the the pearls, polka dots & rivets. I agree with you about cell phones: they are to street photography as power lines are to landscapes.
I discovered, btw, that I could feature one woman or the other by adjusting the lighting: darker made it about the woman on the phone, lighter made the woman in the foreground the main character. I chose the latter.

Thank you, Jack! It's the center outflow of a fountain in the Alhambra. It seemed somehow the very heart of the place. The hardest part was getting there: the rest just happened.. ;~)
-
Alberta! It's great to hear from you--thanks for stopping by. We put out some bird seed after the snow (it's just about spring now so they're on their own.) It gave me a chance to shoot birds from the bedroom ;~)

I was scoping out some snowdrops yesterday trying to figure out how to shoot them. You've inspired me--these are beautiful!
-
Thanks, Jack--being inclined to subdued olive tones, I'm inclined to agree.
-
Thanks, Ruud. This one caught me by surprise.
-
Thanks so much, Jack. I wasn't sure, going into this, what I'd end up with but it was fun and interesting.
-
Thanks, Jack--I'm really honored! It was a sad find on my porch yesterday morning (and a mystery. too--I have no idea what did the poor thing in.)
-
Thanks, Haig! Well, if not the camera, then the photographer--I only see the sassy faces through the viewfinder. This was a candid from a family gathering though so she was on her best behavior.
-
Thanks, Jack--it's my daughter and favorite model again (this time NOT sticking out her tongue at the camera ;~)

Just revisited this--with the same reaction ;~)
